Job Description
A well-established, hospital-employed hospitalist program is seeking an Internal Medicine residency-trained Nocturnist to join a growing inpatient team in southeast Alabama. This opportunity offers a flexible schedule, strong subspecialty support, and the chance to work within a collaborative inpatient environment serving a diverse patient population.
The nocturnist team works a manageable schedule with individualized shift planning and comprehensive specialist coverage available around the clock.
Schedule

  • Night shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Minimum of 12 shifts per month
  • Flexible scheduling model
  • Average nightly census of approximately 9-10 patients per provider
Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient coverage for unassigned admissions from the emergency department
  • Manage patient transfers and inpatient consultations
  • Admit and co-manage critically ill adult patients with intensivist support
  • Collaborate with specialists across multiple service lines
  • Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and patient management
Practice Environment
  • 24/7 pulmonary and critical care support
  • Continuous subspecialty coverage available
  • In-house radiology physician coverage around the clock

Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Completion of Internal Medicine residency training required
  • Eligible for or able to obtain Alabama medical licensure
  • Comfortable managing acute inpatient cases in a nocturnist setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior hospitalist or nocturnist experience preferred
  • Experience working in a collaborative inpatient environment
  • Strong communication and clinical decision-making skills
