Occupational Summary

Provide recreational assistance to members of the Duke University community to include safeguarding swimming area to prevent accidents, instructing members in various recreational activities such as swimming and tennis, and maintaining proper condition of recreational equipment.


Be Bold.

Work Performed

Maintain order and guard actvities of swimmers to prevent accidents; rescue swimmers in danger and administer first aid as required. Inspect facilities for unsafe areas and cleanliness, notify maintenance department for necessary repairs. Provide instruction to members in various recreational activities including swimming and tennis. Maintain recreational equipment in usable condition. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification. Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $20.00 to USD $24.10. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
