Recovery House information

What is a recovery house?

A Recovery House job typically involves supporting individuals recovering from substance use disorders in a structured, sober living environment. Duties may include monitoring residents, enforcing house rules, providing emotional support, coordinating activities, and connecting residents with necessary resources. Staff members help create a safe and supportive atmosphere to encourage long-term sobriety and personal growth. Positions can vary from house managers to support staff, depending on the facility's needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the recovery house position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Recovery House Manager, you need a solid background in addiction recovery, facility management, and basic health and safety protocols, often supported by certifications such as CPR/First Aid and knowledge of recovery program models. Familiarity with case management software, inventory control systems, and compliance documentation is typically required. Compassionate leadership, conflict resolution, and strong organizational skills are crucial for guiding residents and staff effectively. These competencies ensure the facility runs smoothly, supports resident recovery, and maintains regulatory and safety standards at all times.

What are some common challenges faced by staff working in a recovery house setting?

One common challenge for Recovery House staff is maintaining a safe, supportive environment while managing residents at various stages of recovery. Staff regularly handle crises, enforce house rules, and mediate interpersonal conflicts, which requires patience and strong problem-solving skills. Teamwork is key, as staff often collaborate with counselors, social workers, and healthcare professionals to coordinate care and address resident needs. Over time, staff develop valuable experience in crisis intervention and community support, which can open doors to advanced roles within addiction services or behavioral health management.

Job description

Topgolf | Front of House Supervisor
Job Description
ABOUT TOPGOLF
Topgolf is where golf meets a great time. We're a high-energy sports entertainment venue where every shift is different, every guest brings their own energy, and the people who work here make it all happen. If you're looking for a place to grow, have fun, and be part of something bigger than a job description, you're in the right place.
WHAT WE'RE SEEKING
Are you a natural leader who knows how to keep a team fired up and a venue running smoothly at the same time? Do you lead by example, hold the standard without being heavy-handed, and genuinely care about the experience your guests and your team are having? Can you run an opening, own a closing, and handle whatever happens in between?
We're looking for a Front of House Supervisor who makes the shift happen. You'll coach your team, hold the floor, and make sure every guest walks away thinking that was awesome. If you bring energy, accountability, and a team-first mindset to every shift, this role was made for you.
THE ROLE
The Front of House Supervisor leads the team in delivering a best-in-class guest experience every shift. You'll handle general operational responsibilities like opening, closing, and managing the flow of the venue while making sure none of that ever gets in the way of taking care of the guest. You'll coach your team, uphold service and safety standards, and step into whatever the business needs to run at its best.
This role requires a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with availability to work extended hours during peak periods, special events, and high-volume seasons.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Lead the Floor
  • Supervise the team during service to ensure every guest interaction meets Topgolf's best-in-class standard

  • Coach and develop team members in real time to build skills, confidence, and accountability

  • Uphold operating procedures, service standards, and safety protocols throughout every shift

  • Drive Associate engagement and create an environment where people are proud to work

Run the Operation
  • Execute opening and closing procedures with consistency and attention to detail

  • Ensure work rules, compliance standards, and SOPs are followed across the team during your shift

  • Manage shift flow and adjust in real time when volume, staffing, or guest needs change

  • Assist with other business functions including team member development, ordering, inventory, facilities, and marketing as needed

Representing the Culture
  • Demonstrate Topgolf's Core Values in every interaction with guests and the team: Fun, One Team, Excellence, Courage, and Caring

  • Be the kind of leader your team wants to follow, and your guests remember for the right reasons

  • Hold yourself and your team to a high standard without losing the energy and fun that makes Topgolf, Topgolf

  • Perform other operational duties as assigned by your manager

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE
  • You'll lead a team in one of the most high-energy guest entertainment environments around

  • No two shifts are the same, and you'll be challenged and engaged every time you walk in

  • You'll build real leadership skills with visibility, responsibility, and support from the management team

  • You'll work somewhere that values the guest experience as much as you do

CORE COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESS
Being Resilient | You keep your composure, stay solutions-focused, and lead the team through whatever the shift throws at you.
  • Stay calm and professional under pressure and during high-volume periods on the floor

  • Recovers quickly when things go off-script and keeps the team focused on what matters

  • Models' stability and positivity so the team knows how to respond when things get hectic

  • Approaches obstacles and setbacks as problems to solve, not reasons to slow down

Communicates Effectively | You give clear direction, listen well, and keep your team and guests always in the know.
  • Communicates shift expectations, role responsibilities, and service standards clearly at the start of every shift

  • Coaches team members directly and, in the moment, so feedback lands while it's still relevant

  • Listens to guests and Associates with genuine attention and responds in a way that builds trust

  • Keeps the management team informed on shift performance, team dynamics, and operational issues

Customer Focus | You set the standard for the guest experience and make sure your team delivers it every single time.
  • Holds the team accountable for delivering consistently exceptional guest experience throughout the shift

  • Addresses guest concerns quickly, professionally, and in a way that turns the situation around

  • Treats every guest interaction as an opportunity to make someone's day and builds a team that thinks the same way

Drives Results | You own the shift, push the team to perform, and take pride in a venue that runs the way it should.
  • Sets clear performance expectations and holds the team accountable for meeting them every shift

  • Keeps service standards, cleanliness, and operational execution consistently high throughout the shift

  • Identifies gaps in team performance or venue operations and addresses them directly and quickly

  • Takes ownership of shift outcomes, whether things went great or there's something to improve

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for leading people

  • Must be 18 years of age or older as required by state or local law

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Let's be real; this isn't your typical desk job! Here's what you'll need to do to thrive in this role:
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis, including bending, stooping, and carrying

  • Ability to remain on your feet and in motion for extended periods throughout the shift, including standing, walking, and navigating stairs

  • Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks consistently throughout the workday in a fast-paced, high-energy venue environment

  • Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions for extended periods of time, including heat, cold, and inclement weather

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a venue environment that may include moderate to high levels of background noise

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while performing desk-based tasks, including working at a computer and reviewing documents
