Recovery Assistant information

What is a recovery assistant?

Recovery Assistants are professionals who support individuals recovering from mental health issues, addiction, or physical injuries. They work to help clients regain independence, develop coping strategies, and access community resources. Recovery Assistants often collaborate with healthcare professionals, provide emotional support, and assist with daily living activities. Their goal is to empower individuals in their recovery journey and promote overall well-being.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a recovery assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Recovery Assistant, you typically need a solid understanding of mental health or substance abuse recovery concepts, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant certification such as CPR/First Aid. Familiarity with documentation systems, client progress tracking tools, and crisis intervention techniques is commonly required. Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, patience, and the ability to motivate clients are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure effective support for clients' recovery journeys and contribute to a safe, positive care environment.

How does a recovery assistant typically collaborate with clinical staff and other team members in a healthcare setting?

As a Recovery Assistant, collaboration with clinical staff such as nurses, therapists, and case managers is an essential part of the role. Recovery Assistants often provide frontline support to patients, relay important observations to the clinical team, and help implement care or recovery plans. Effective communication and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team are crucial for ensuring coordinated, patient-centered care. Regular team meetings, documentation, and informal check-ins are common ways Recovery Assistants contribute to smooth team operations and positive patient outcomes.

  • Administer therapy modalities, including a variety of manual therapy techniques, stimulation, or massage to facilitate recovery.
  • Assist patients with adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices to promote safety and mobility.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of patient progress, treatment methods, and adjusted goals to provide continuous quality care.
  • Advise patients and their families on in-home treatment strategies and exercises that can sustain recovery efforts beyond therapy sessions.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our focus is on delivering care to a wide range of patients, including children, adults, and the elderly, who may be dealing with conditions that affect their physical movement or quality of life. Agile Strength Rehabilitation Center caters to various diagnoses, from post-surgical recovery to chronic pain management, ensuring therapists are equipped to handle diverse clinical needs.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program; a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is preferred.
  • Active and valid physical therapy license and registration in the state of California.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective patient interaction and documentation.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including experience with electronic medical records systems.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in managing patient caseloads and schedules.
Preferred Experience

While new graduates are encouraged to apply, we prefer candidates with at least two years of experience in a clinical setting, particularly those with prior home care experience. Mentorship programs are available for new therapists to ensure rapid professional development.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from USD 100,000 to 120,000 annually. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Sign-on bonus to support your transition into our team.
  • Flexible scheduling options within a Monday to Friday framework.

  • Life, AD&D, and disability insurance for added peace of mind.
  • Generous paid time off and paid family leave to promote work-life balance.
  • Continuing education credits, ensuring you advance your skills and maintain licensure.
  • A referral program to incentivize bringing in talented colleagues.
