Position Summary

Tully & Weiss is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Criminal Defense Attorney with a strong background in felony trials to join our Martinez, CA office. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in handling complex felony cases, demonstrate exceptional courtroom skills, and align with our commitment to providing strategic and aggressive defense for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of felony criminal defense matters, including but not limited to murder, manslaughter, drug trafficking, gun crimes, and sex offenses.
  • Lead and participate in all phases of criminal litigation, from pre-trial motions and hearings to trial preparation and court appearances.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive defense strategies tailored to the unique circumstances of each case.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, investigators, and support staff to build compelling defenses.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and guidance throughout the legal process.
  • Stay abreast of developments in criminal law and legal precedents to ensure effective representation.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing criminal law, with a focus on felony defense.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting felony cases, including jury trials.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards and client confidentiality.

Preferred Experience
