Job description

Description

Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Inspect chillers and ancillary equipment (cooling towers, pumps, air handlers) using testing instruments to evaluate operating parameters.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform complex preventative maintenance, including tube brushing, refrigerant leak testing, oil analysis, and compressor teardowns/rebuilds.
  • System Optimization: Adjust controls and calibrate Building Automation Systems (BAS) to maximize energy efficiency and reliability.
  • Compliance: Handle refrigerants strictly in accordance with environmental regulations (requires EPA certification). 
  • Safely perform preventative maintenance visits to Este's customers, servicing a variety of HVAC equipment including split systems, water source heat pumps, rooftop units, computer room air conditioners, mini-split systems, packaged systems and chillers and boilers. Will also need to be able to perform high level repairs, replace compressors, bearings, different motors and other skilled repairs in a timely manner. 
  • Must be able to reclaim/recover refrigerant, check pressures, pull vacuums and add refrigerant (split systems and RTU's)
  • Experience with RTU start-up, checking rotation, etc
  • Experience needed with equipment troubleshooting and repair on different types and brands of equipment
  • Must have knowledge/experience working with low voltage controls, (thermostats, sensors, smoke detectors, equipment control boards, etc). Must be able to read wiring diagrams.
  • Good communication skills to educate customers effectively in regards to the explanation of repairs, charges and/or other available products/services.
  • Work closely with the dispatcher and other team members in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Complete invoices, time sheets, and other paperwork as required.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as needed. Respond to emergency calls as required, on call rotation.
  • Limit call-backs to under 3% of all diagnostic calls run by technician.


Requirements

Education Required:

  • Applicants must have at least a High School Diploma or GED 
  • Trade school and/or apprenticeship experience preferred.
  • EPA License

Technical Competencies Required:

  • HVAC Commercial Service: 3 - 5 years, specifically with commercial chillers and boilers
  • Knowledge of air-cooled and water-cooled centrifugal or screw chillers

Other Competencies Required:

  • Lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Climbing heights up to 30 feet
