Job description

We are seeking a recent graduate from the Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) program to serve as a Peer Mentor for current students. This position is designed to provide academic, professional, and personal guidance to students in the ECED program by drawing on your recent experience and success in the field. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, has strong communication and leadership skills, and is eager to support and inspire others as they progress through the program.

Key Responsibilities: May encompass several of the following tasks.

  • Provide one-on-one and group mentoring sessions for current ECED students.
  • Offer insights into academic planning, time management, practicum experiences, and transitioning into the workforce or further education.
  • Share personal experiences and practical tips to help students navigate the ECED program successfully.
  • Assist with orientation sessions, workshops, and student support events.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify student needs and ensure appropriate support is offered.
  • Serve as a positive role model and advocate for student engagement and success.
  • Maintain regular communication with assigned mentees and document interactions as required.

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate (within the past 1-2 years) of the ECED program at Ivy Tech, Marion
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated academic success and commitment to the field of early childhood education.
  • Previous experience in mentoring, tutoring, peer leadership, or related roles (preferred).
