Job description

Sales & Marketing Associate

Heritage Pork International

About Heritage Pork International

For over 25 years, Heritage Pork International has been a boutique, high-end pork company producing and marketing specialty pork programs. Our flagship brand, Heritage Berkshire, is built on Berkshire (Kurobuta) genetics — a Japanese heritage breed known for exceptional marbling, tenderness, and flavor. Often described as the "Wagyu of pork," our product is raised by independent, family-owned farms across the Midwest using humane, sustainable practices, and produced in small, limited quantities. Our customers include high-end restaurants, specialty butcher shops, premium grocery chains, and national foodservice distribution across the country.

Position Overview

Heritage Pork International is looking for an entry-level Sales & Marketing Associate to join our small, hands-on team based in the Sioux City, IA area. This role is ideal for someone early in their career — recent graduates or those with minimal professional experience are encouraged to apply. You'll be trained directly by our leadership team, with hands-on exposure to our farms and production facilities, and will grow into supporting both our sales and marketing efforts as you develop product and industry knowledge. This is a foundational role with a clear path to grow into a full sales position managing your own accounts.

What You'll Do

  • Learn our products and business inside and out — including hands-on time at partner farms and our production/processing facilities
  • Assist in maintaining and servicing existing client accounts, helping fulfill orders and manage day-to-day account needs
  • Support the sales team with materials such as presentations, sales decks, and product samples
  • Represent Heritage Pork International at industry trade shows (2–3 major shows per year, plus smaller regional events)
  • Support marketing and advertising coordination tied to sales efforts
  • Grow over time into identifying and developing new account opportunities
  • Partner closely with ownership and the broader team in a small-company, all-hands environment

What We're Looking For

  • Entry-level candidate — recent graduate or early-career professional
  • Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a genuine openness to learning
  • Comfortable working on-site, including time spent at farms and production/processing environments
  • Based in or willing to commute to the Sioux City, IA area
  • Proficient with basic computer and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint)
  • Background or coursework in agriculture, food, or business is a plus, but not required
  • Comfortable in a small, close-knit team where everyone contributes across functions
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (e.g., product boxes at production or trade show setup/breakdown)

Compensation & Growth

  • Base salary: $45,000–$50,000, plus performance-based bonus
  • Clear growth path toward a full sales role with your own book of accounts

Benefits

  • Health insurance, with employer-paid premiums
  • Paid time off (accrual increases with tenure)
