Cancer Registry Specialist

Job Description

Abstracts eligible cases accurately and timely. Complies with ASCR, CoC and NCDB data requests. Monitors cancer registry data quality. Assists and supports the Cancer Committee Coordinator and department staff members.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

Education: High school diploma or GED required; Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) Certification or Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) Certification eligible required. CTR Certification required within 2 years of employment.

Experience: Previous Cancer Registry experience preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities: Ability to complete projects and perform structured tasks related to project prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines; ability to carry out written/oral directives; ability to act or judge on one's own and with discretion. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Ability to use computer, word processing and spreadsheet software, FAX and copy machine.
