Description and Requirements
About the Role:
This 12-month career development program is designed for recent graduates interested in building a foundation in employee benefits, financial analysis, and benefit strategy. Through structured training and hands-on experience, you'll develop analytical skills, learn how benefit plans are evaluated and managed, and gain exposure to the factors that influence benefit plan performance and cost.
You'll work alongside experienced professionals, participate in a mentorship program, and take on increasing responsibility as your knowledge and skills grow. You'll also have opportunities to connect with peers and leaders across the organization and get involved in networking and community initiatives, including USI Gives Back.
Program Overview:
The Employee Benefits Career Track Program provides more than 950 hours of structured training and practical hands-on work experience.
  • Months 1-3: 100% training
  • Months 4-6: 50% training / 50% hands-on experience
  • Months 7-12: 20% training / 80% hands-on experience

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Work with financial data to support client deliverables and reporting across a variety of business segments.
  • Review insurance renewals and evaluate new business proposals to help clients make informed benefit decisions.
  • Prepare market reviews, funding projections, and claims utilization analyses to evaluate plan performance.
  • Review insurance contracts and funding arrangements to understand plan structure and key cost drivers.
  • Help identify cost-saving opportunities using analytical tools, templates, and internal resources.
  • Support negotiations related to premium rates and benefit plan features.
  • Turn your analysis into clear, client-ready summaries that highlight observations and key findings.
  • Participate in internal strategy meetings to learn how client recommendations are developed and delivered.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while ensuring work is accurate and completed on time.
  • Stay current on industry trends, legislation, and developments affecting employee benefits.
  • Apply knowledge gained through training to real client work and projects.
