About the Position
Elevate Living is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team at our corporate office in Wayzata, MN. This is an entry-level position designed for a recent college graduate with a four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field who is looking to begin their career in accounting.
This position will provide hands-on experience across a broad range of accounting functions, including financial statement review, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, accounts payable, fixed asset tracking, lender reporting, audit support, and more. You'll work closely with our accounting and property management teams while gaining exposure to the financial operations of a growing multifamily real estate company.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist with month-end financial statement review and research unusual transactions or account variances.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unusual items.

  • Prepare bank reconciliations and research reconciling items.

  • Enter and process accounts payable transactions, ensuring invoices are accurately coded and recorded

  • Research and resolve returned payments, NSF transactions, canceled or denied checks, stale-dated checks, and other payment exceptions.

  • Prepare quarterly maintenance reserve requests.

  • Reconcile company credit card activity and assist with ensuring transactions are properly supported and coded.

  • Maintain fixed asset records and assist with recording additions, disposals, and depreciation.

  • Assist with HUD and other financial audit preparation, including gathering supporting documentation.

  • Assist with special projects, reporting, and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Entry-level candidates and recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and an interest in developing advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities. A.I. experience is a plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Willingness to ask questions, learn new processes, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
