Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.

The Company operates Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world, and Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to making computing more human, in addition to Bitmoji, Saturn, and other digital services.

We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join the Safety Engineering Mobile Client team at Snap!

The Safety Engineering Mobile Client (SEMC) team develops and maintains essential client-side technology driving account security, user authentication, and regulatory compliance throughout Snapchat. This team operates across various mobile platforms and foundational infrastructure to provide robust protections, collaborating with cross-functional partners in backend engineering, product management, and legal departments to deliver high-quality solutions at scale.

What you'll do:

  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing team of engineers working on safety- and security-critical mobile client systems

  • Set clear technical direction and execution priorities across a broad portfolio of account integrity, authentication, reporting, and compliance initiatives

  • Drive delivery on complex, high-urgency projects with multiple stakeholders and shifting requirements

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, Legal, Trust & Safety, backend engineering, and adjacent client teams to define scope and land durable solutions

  • Raise the bar on engineering quality, operational excellence, and technical decision-making across the team

  • Build a healthy team environment with clear expectations, strong accountability, and active support for career growth

  • Hire and onboard strong engineering talent while developing senior ICs and technical leaders within the team

  • Balance near-term execution needs with longer-term platform investments that improve leverage, quality, and team velocity

  • Utilize AI tools and high velocity engineering workflows to design and ship scalable services while upholding rigorous standards for code correctness, security, and production ready quality code.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, mobile client architecture, and large-scale production systems

  • Strong skill in technical judgment, including evaluating tradeoffs across product quality, security, reliability, and speed of execution

  • Strong skill in leading engineering execution through ambiguity, competing priorities, and cross-functional complexity

  • Strong skill in communication, coaching, and stakeholder alignment across engineering, product, legal, and Trust & Safety partners

  • Ability to set technical direction for a team and raise the quality bar through architecture review, prioritization, and engineering decision-making

  • Ability to develop engineers and technical leaders through feedback, accountability, and day-to-day coaching

  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving environments with urgent escalations, changing requirements, and high-visibility deliverables

  • Ability to build alignment and drive progress across distributed stakeholders and partially owned work streams

  • Proficiency in, or a strong aptitude for, leveraging AI tools to streamline development, paired with the critical judgment to audit generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks.

  • Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of engineering trends and modern development practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience

  • 9+ years of post-Bachelor's software development experience; or a Master's degree in a technical field + 7+ year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 3+ years of post-grad software development experience

  • 1 + year(s) of technical leadership or engineering management experience

  • Experience leading engineers delivering production software in mobile, platform, or security-sensitive environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading teams working on account security, abuse prevention, safety systems, authentication, or compliance-related product areas

  • Experience driving cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities

  • Experience shipping client-side systems on iOS and/or Android at scale
