Software Developer
C++ | Ada | Missle Defense
Full-Time with an Employee Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor
Onsite in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80
We are hiring a Software Developer to support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Engagement Planner team, developing and testing complex software capabilities and algorithms for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This cleared defense software engineering role requires experience with C++ or Ada, MATLAB, Python, Unix/Linux, mathematical and physics-based algorithms, optimization algorithms, and modeling and simulation, along with an active Secret security clearance.
This role supports software development and modernization, including translating Ada code to C++, implementing new Engagement Planner capabilities, and reviewing software requirements and test cases. You will contribute to complex, highly visible missile defense systems and fire control solutions supporting GWS mission requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and test software capabilities and algorithms for the GWS Fire Control Engagement Planner.
  • Modernize legacy software and translate Ada code to C++.
  • Analyze and implement complex mathematics- and physics-based algorithms and optimization solutions.
  • Develop and maintain software using Ada and C++ within Unix/Linux environments.
  • Use MATLAB and Python to support software development, algorithm analysis, modeling, and testing.
  • Read and interpret modeling and simulation outputs and technical information supporting software implementation.
  • Review software requirements and test cases developed for Engagement Planner capabilities.
  • Collaborate with software developers and technical teams to implement and validate new and existing capabilities.
  • Support software solutions and algorithms delivered for GMD Weapon System (GWS) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) mission requirements.

Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Active Secret security clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field.
  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience or Master's degree with 0 years of related experience; experience not to exceed 10 years.
  • Recent demonstrated software development experience using Ada or C++.
  • Experience solving complex mathematics- and physics-based problems.
  • Experience analyzing and implementing optimization algorithms.
  • Recent experience with MATLAB and Python.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret modeling and simulation.
  • Ability to support an in-person, closed-area work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience solving complex mathematics- and physics-based problems involving the development of fire control solutions.
  • Advanced experience with Linux, scripting, and system operations.
  • Previous experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs and/or systems.
  • Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis.
  • Experience with software containerization and orchestration, including Kubernetes, Helm Charts, and Docker.
  • Experience with Agile project management tools, including Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD automation, and continuous deployment using tools and technologies such as Jenkins, Ansible, Git, and GitLab.
