Job description

Monday to Friday 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM (with overtime)
The Warehouse Supervisor contributes to the efficient operation by providing direct supervision to warehouse workers at the Branch Office. The Warehouse Supervisor in this job performs overall supervision work in the warehouse and also provides a range of general and specific warehouse tasks such as staging, loading, unloading, stock, and receiving. This position serves as the most experienced/skilled warehouse worker and is usually tasked supervise the warehouse workers/ drivers and is responsible for the daily activity of stocking, receiving, checker, assembler, freezer, cooler, or shipping section.
Essential Job Functions
  • Fills in for Logistic Manager/ Assistant Logistics Manager as necessary
  • Supervise and train employees to work in the warehouse either as laborers, equipment operators, product handlers, drivers, clerks, or inventory control personnel to ensure their attainment of high individual productivity and performance of the responsibilities and duties contained in their job description.
  • Under the direction of a manager, lead a group of associates to complete assigned duties and tasks.
  • Under the direction of a manager, teach and train a group of associates in safety and have them perform efficiently.
  • Assign workers to accurately assemble all customers' orders and ship within a specified timeframe.
  • Assign workers to receive, count, stock, replenish, and manage merchandise.
  • Coordinates the loading and dispatching of all routes.
  • Arrange to deliver merchandise to customers and contact sales personnel and/ or customer for any delivery schedule adjustments.
  • Communicates with inbound and outbound freight companies including common carriers.
  • Assist in establishing operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposing of merchandise, and keeping accurate warehouse inventory.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under various time constraints.
  • Principles, practices, and procedures of warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resource.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA rules and regulations
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • Ability to apply general rules and policy to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
  • Require considerable and strenuous physical exertion so incumbents should be able to lift heavy objects over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
  • Positive work history and ability to maintain solid attendance.
  • Available to work extended hours.

Other Working Conditions: Some Warehouse Supervisors will spend time in the warehouse's refrigerated (Cooler and Freezer) section. Machinery operation requires using safety equipment including but not limited to steel-toed boots. The typical workweek is Monday through Friday (standard 40 hours per week); however, evening, night shift, overtime, and weekend hours are common in some branch offices.
