Berkley Product Protection (‘BPP’) is an operating unit of W.R. Berkley Corporation, one of America’s largest commercial lines writers in the United States. This is an exciting opportunity to join a recently re-branded Berkley Product Protection team (previously called Berkley Global Product Recall).  The team consists of product recall and liability specialists and is focused on a sustainable recall offering and its expansion into admitted/non-admitted product liability. We are a collaborative, dedicated, knowledgeable teams and offer unique, tailored liability solutions to higher hazard, more difficult to insure, unique and unusual products-oriented accounts.

Underwriting Assistant (Product Liability)

Are you detail-driven, organized, and ready to grow your career in insurance? Join our dynamic operations team as an Underwriting Assistant, where you’ll play a critical role in supporting underwriting, claims, and finance while contributing to an exceptional client experience.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build or deepen their career in product liability underwriting within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.


What You’ll Do:

  • Partner closely with the Product Liability underwriting team to rate, quote, and issue binders using internal systems
  • Prepare and issue policies in accordance with underwriting and operational guidelines
  • Process midterm policy endorsements efficiently and accurately
  • Communicate with brokers to gather required documentation and follow up on outstanding items
  • Support claims by setting up new files, sending notices, and providing administrative assistance
  • Assist finance during month-end close, including premium follow-ups
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to operational excellence

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience as an Underwriting Assistant, ideally in General Liability (preferred)
  • Familiarity with underwriting processes, terminology, and rating practices
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe; experience with underwriting systems a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
