Construction Reality Capture Technician, Abilene, TX

CloudFactory

Abilene, TX • On-site

$22 - $25/hr

Part-time

Re-posted 28 days ago

Job description

Read this before you apply
This is not a videography gig, a casual side job, or a student placement. We are hiring reliable, physically active field technicians to capture data on active construction sites. We guarantee a minimum of 20 hours per week across four fixed days, with additional hours regularly available as project demand grows. If that sounds like you, read on.
About the Role
What you'll actually be doing every day:
As a Construction Reality Capture Technician, you will operate 360° cameras and reality capture equipment on large-scale active construction sites in and around Abilene, TX. Your output feeds directly into AI systems that analyse construction progress, so precision, consistency, and reliability matter far more than creativity.
You will follow a strict technical brief, walk 20,000+ steps a day in full PPE, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. This is a physically demanding, methodical role. If you thrive on fieldwork, routine, and being part of something larger than yourself, it's a rewarding one.
The Logistics:
What the commitment actually looks like
Location: Abilene, TX (with potential for nearby sites as projects expands)
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, full days, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Hours: 5-8 hours per capture day. Minimum 20 hours per week guaranteed. Additional hours available regularly as project scope grows, typical weeks run 24-32 hours.
Contract type: Fixed-term contract, minimum 12 months, tied to project duration
Pay: $22-$25 per hour
Transport: You must have a valid driving licence and reliable personal transport to reach site
What "part-time" actually means here
We guarantee a minimum of 20 hours per week - four fixed days, 5-8 hours per day. This is real, reliable work with a consistent schedule and a minimum 12-month commitment from us. Additional hours are regularly available as projects grow, and many technicians work 24-32 hours in a typical week. This is the right fit if you want steady, structured fieldwork without a full 40-hour commitment, not if you're looking for flexible or on-call hours.
No flexible scheduling
Capture days are set by the construction project. We cannot accommodate requests to swap days, work evenings, or adjust hours around other commitments. The schedule is fixed, but the minimum 20 hours per week is guaranteed, and additional hours are available as the project grows.
Responsibilities:
Your day-to-day on site
• Operate 360° cameras to systematically document construction sites
• Follow a strict technical capture brief, coverage, angles, and sequencing are prescribed, not improvised
• Walk the full site each capture day, often covering 20,000+ steps across uneven terrain
• Wear and maintain full PPE at all times: hard hat, steel-toed boots, and high-vis vest
• Communicate daily progress and flag any site access or safety issues to the Project Team
• Adapt quickly to site-specific safety protocols and client requirements
• Handle and care for equipment responsibly
Requirements
What you need to bring to this role:
Must Have
  • Full availability Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday - no exceptions
  • Valid driving licence and reliable personal transport to reach Abilene-area sites
  • Physical fitness to walk 8-10 hours per day, outdoors, in varying weather
  • OSHA 10 certification, or genuine commitment to completing it before your start date (we cover the costs)
  • Strong reliability track record - you show up when you say you will
  • Safety-first mindset - you actively identify hazards, follow protocols, and don't cut corners
  • Clear, proactive communication - you flag problems early rather than letting them compound
    Nice To Have
  • Prior experience on active construction, civil engineering, or surveying sites
  • Familiarity with 360° cameras, scanning equipment, or similar technical field tools
  • Experience following precise technical methodologies or documentation standards

Who this role is not right for
We have found this role is not a good fit for: students with term-time commitments or exam periods; anyone expecting a fully flexible or on-demand schedule; anyone currently job-searching for permanent employment while treating this as a bridge; candidates without construction or outdoor fieldwork experience.
Safety & Certifications
OSHA 10 is required - we make it straightforward
All technicians must hold a valid OSHA 10 certification before their first day on site. This is non-negotiable - active construction sites require it.
  • Already certified? You can start immediately.
  • Not yet certified? Complete OSHA 10 training after your offer is accepted and before your start date. We reimburse the full cost on Day 1.
  • Steel-toed safety boots are mandatory on site. If you don't own a pair, we reimburse the cost.

Why Join Us
What you get from this role
  • Hands-on field experience on major, large-scale construction projects
  • Paid training in reality capture technology - a growing skillset in construction and AI
  • Be part of a team contributing directly to AI-driven construction monitoring at scale
  • Work with a mission-driven organisation that values reliability, growth, and field expertise
