SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT
📍 Location: Dallas, TX

Position Overview:

We are excited to welcome an experienced Senior Accountant to our growing team. This position will be responsible for the full range of accounting processes and financial reporting for a portfolio of development and/or operating real estate assets.
As a Senior Accountant, you will provide comprehensive, full-cycle accounting support across both active development projects and operating assets — spanning land acquisition, project development, lease-up and operations, through final disposition. Key Responsibilities:

📊Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for development and operating real estate projects across the country, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and monthly financial reporting, ensuring accuracy under Income Tax Basis, GAAP, or other applicable accounting standards.
  • Own the monthly draw process, including preparation and submission of draw packages, coordination of funding with lenders, and ensuring timely disbursement of payments.
  • Coordinate accounting and financial reporting for property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing transactions.
  • Manage capital calls and distributions for joint venture partners, including preparation, processing, and recording of equity contributions and distributions in accordance with partnership agreements.
  • Prepare annual tax packages for external tax preparers and coordinate with auditors to support timely and accurate audit completion.
     

🏗️ Project Collaboration

  • Partner with project and development managers, collaborating across teams to maintain alignment on project-related matters and timelines.
  • Coordinate with third-party property management accounting teams to reconcile monthly operating activity and ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial results.
  • Support senior leadership and development managers with special projects and ad hoc requests as needed.

📁 Financial Statements & Compliance

  • Prepare and deliver financial statements and reporting packages for lenders, joint venture partners, and internal leadership in accordance with applicable agreement requirements and deadlines.
  • Interpret loan, operating, and organizational documents to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.


Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with exposure to real estate.
  • Real Estate software experience: Yardi
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
