Job description

The American Housing Corporation is on a mission to solve Americaโ€™s housing crisis through all-out production, starting with the development of rowhomes. We believe that Americaโ€™s affordability crisis is fundamentally a production crisis, and that solving it requires a vertically integrated development approach: We buy land, and manufacture, install, and sell our homes directly to customers.

The Role

We are hiring a Director of Real Estate Development to lead the execution of the companyโ€™s real estate platform.

This role will own the operational backbone of the real estate side of the company. Driving underwriting, development, and deal execution across markets. You will be building the real estate operating structure that will allow American Housing to deploy capital and build housing at national scale.

You will work directly with CEO Riley Meik to translate company strategy into a scalable development pipeline. You will also partner closely with co-founder Bobby Fijan, who leads investor relationships, political engagement, and high-level real estate strategy.

What Youโ€™ll Do

Development Strategy

  • Work with leadership to determine market entry strategies and capital deployment priorities

  • Establish internal processes for pipeline management, underwriting, and deal tracking

  • Evaluate development opportunities that align with AHCโ€™s manufacturing-based housing system

  • Ensure the development pipeline supports factory production capacity

Underwriting, Investment Analysis, Financing

  • Develop standardized underwriting frameworks for rapid evaluation of opportunities

  • Build institutional-quality financial models for residential ground up development and BTR

  • Prepare investment materials and decision materials for leadership, investors, and lenders

Acquisitions & Deal Execution

  • Support Head of Real Estate in advancing land acquisition opportunities and vetting inbound requests

  • Lead underwriting, LOIs, due diligence, and closing processes

  • Coordinate with brokers, landowners, lenders, and external partners

  • In collaboration with Head of Real Estate and CFO secure required deal investment and financing

  • Manage multiple active deals simultaneously across markets

Development Management

  • Oversee entitlement and permitting strategy for development sites

  • Coordinate with land use attorneys, consultants, and municipalities for timeline

  • Coordinate with in-house design, manufacturing, and construction management teams on establishing robust product criteria and project delivery timelines

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who combines institutional analytical training with real estate development execution.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in real estate development, investment, or acquisitions

  • Exceptional financial modeling and investment analysis skills

  • Experience underwriting and executing complex development deals

  • Strong understanding of land acquisition, entitlements, and development pipelines

  • Ability to operate autonomously in high-ownership environments

  • Experience managing teams or building new organizational functions

  • Comfort making decisions under uncertainty and moving quickly

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Experience in high-growth or entrepreneurial environments

  • Strong market intuition around housing supply and urban development

  • Ability to translate strategy into executable operational plans

What Makes This Role Different

Most real estate roles operate inside the traditional development model. This role helps build a new one.

AHC is creating a vertically integrated housing company where development, manufacturing, and construction operate as one system. Real estate decisions directly affect factory production, logistics, and installation. The Director of Real Estate Development sits at the center of that system.

You will help design the development platform that powers one of the most ambitious housing companies being built in America.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is competitive and designed to exceed market for exceptional performers, with significant equity participation. All positions include robust benefits.
