Job description

Founded in Greenville, South Carolina in 1998, The client is a full-service real estate development company with projects across retail, multifamily, and industrial asset classes. We've maintained a family-business mindset while growing substantially, and we're known for a collaborative, team-oriented culture. Team members work alongside experienced commercial real estate professionals and gain exposure to the full development lifecycle.

The client is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal who enjoys the transactional side of the business and thrives in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment. You'll support acquisitions, financings, land development, and dispositions-working closely with our principals, legal leadership, and external partners to keep projects moving and closings on track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead internal legal point of contact for commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, financings, land development, and dispositions; escalate challenges to Company Principals and/or the Director of Legal as needed.

  • Draft and review transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements, amendments, notices, and closing deliverables.

  • Coordinate, track, review, and analyze project-specific due diligence, including title commitments, surveys, zoning and environmental reports, and title exception documents.

  • Maintain critical dates, transaction checklists, and closing timelines to keep deals moving to close.

  • Partner with Company Principals, outside counsel, title companies, lenders, vendors, and municipal agencies to drive projects to completion.

  • Maintain, organize, and preserve transactional and legal documentation throughout the life of each project.

Qualifications

We're looking for an extremely organized, detail-oriented paralegal who can manage multiple matters at once, maintain excellent accuracy, and communicate clearly in a high-volume environment. Working knowledge of commercial real estate transactions and land development processes is imperative.

Required

  • 3+ years of paralegal experience directly related to complex commercial real estate transactions (acquisitions, dispositions, financings, development)

  • Strong contract comprehension, including key clauses, exhibits, and closing requirements

  • Experience coordinating and reviewing due diligence (title, survey, zoning, environmental) and managing title/survey issues with internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to manage checklists, critical dates, and multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Clear written and verbal communication; professional follow-through with internal teams and third parties

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • High attention to detail; strong organizational and file/document management practices

Preferred

  • Paralegal Certificate and/or Bachelor's degree

  • Experience supporting land development matters (entitlements, municipal coordination, development documentation)

  • Comfort working directly with principals/executives and outside counsel

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive compensation based on experience

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage options

  • 401(k) / retirement plan options

  • Paid time off and company holidays

  • Collegial, fun, and team-first culture with direct access to leadership

  • Company-sponsored team events and traditions that help people connect and enjoy working together
