Manager, Real Estate Research & Analytics NYC or Chicago - Hybrid WFH

We are looking for a data geek to join our Research & Analytics team to drive better insights and investment decisions on our multifamily assets. We are looking for someone that understands how to derive unique insights from real estate data, understands the various data sources available to access insights from and develops the strategy and solutions to drive value to our real estate business.

We currently leverage geospatial, demographic, and economic data, as well as advanced analytics to evaluate live real estate deals across sectors and geographies. But we are looking for someone to come in with a fresh set of eyes, evaluate how we are doing things today and advise on how we can improve going forward.

The ideal candidate is an experienced economist, statistician, data scientist, or equity researcher who has experience studying and identifying macroeconomic themes and understanding their impact on asset performance. The individual needs to be intellectually curious and passionate about solving real-world questions using data. Working for one of the world's largest owners of real estate, you will have the opportunity to raise the bar for physical asset investing.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Partnering with key stakeholders to understand business goals from research and analytics
  • Evaluating the current data sets we are leveraging, and how we're deriving insights – and analyzing our best practices through the lens of optimizing our strategy
  • Procuring strategic data sources that can add value to our research
  • Setting the strategic direction for our research and analytics approach, and working with operations to implement strategy
  • Leading a team of 2 (will grow to 4) technical data analysts to derive macroeconomic insights from real estate data
  • Constantly measuring results produced from research and analytics, and looking for ways to drive continuous improvement
  • Analyzing research and analytics findings and presenting data to key stakeholders

Skills We're Seeking

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in economic research, equity research, or real estate data analysis – must come from real estate
  • Understanding of and experience applying analytical techniques to solve business problems
  • Comfortable working with, and combining, disparate and diverse data sources
  • Experience working with data science, data analysts or other technical analytics professionals to implement statistical analysis – management experience is not required
