What is a real estate appraisal trainee?

Real Estate Appraisal Trainees are entry-level professionals who work under the supervision of a licensed appraiser to learn how to estimate the value of properties. They assist with gathering data, inspecting properties, and preparing reports while gaining the experience required to become a licensed or certified appraiser. Trainees typically must complete specific education requirements and log a certain number of supervised hours before advancing to a higher credential. This role is essential for gaining practical skills and industry knowledge in real estate valuation.

What kind of mentorship and supervision can I expect as a real estate appraisal trainee?

As a Real Estate Appraisal Trainee, you will typically work closely under the direct supervision of a certified or licensed appraiser, who will act as your mentor throughout your training period. This relationship includes hands-on guidance during property inspections, assistance with report writing, and constructive feedback on your work. You’ll have regular opportunities to ask questions, observe client interactions, and gradually take on more responsibilities as your skills develop. The mentorship is structured to ensure you gain the experience required by state licensing boards, while building a strong foundation in valuation methodologies and industry standards.
