The Ready-Mix Driver is responsible for safely operating a ready-mix truck to deliver concrete to industrial, commercial, and residential job sites. The role supports the overall operations of the ready-mix plant, including production assistance, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Essential Functions of the Position:
• Operates and drives a ready-mix truck safely and efficiently, adhering to DOT and Holliday rules and regulations.
• Perform proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections in a timely manner.
• Visually inspects the consistency of concrete in the mixer in addition to hauling and delivering loads at the correct slump.
• Responsible for maintaining equipment, including cleanliness.
• When required, completes and maintains a DOT Daily Logbook.
• Understands and communicates job hazards to supervisors, the safety department, and fellow drivers.
• Maintain a positive attitude around coworkers and customers and act professionally and courteously.
• Ability to work up to 16 hours, with a maximum driving time per day of 11 hours, and able to work according to Hours-of-Service Regulations.
• Wears proper PPE at all times.
Skills and Knowledge:
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work without direct supervision while traveling to or on a job site.
• Effective verbal communication with customers, dispatch, and team members.
• Basic knowledge of concrete products and truck operation.
Requirements:
• Must have a valid class B driver's license and current medical.
• Tanker endorsement.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have 6+ months of driving experience
• Driver record cannot contain any reckless driving offences, DUIs, leaving the scene of an accident,
etc.
• Driver record cannot contain more than 1.5 active points in the last 36 months.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling, and/or
action/discipline.
