Job description

SUMMARY: The Ready-Mix Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the plant. This role leads daily production, batching, maintenance, coordination, quality control, inventory, and team performance to ensure on-time delivery, consistent product quality, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer experiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Promotes a culture of safety.
  • Support environmental compliance (stormwater, dust control, washout practices, spill prevention).
  • Lead, coach and develop team to meet performance expectations.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Promote teamwork across dispatch, drivers, QC, maintenance, and sales; drive accountability.
  • Support customer satisfaction through consistent product quality, responsiveness, and professional issue resolution.
  • Communicate constraints, schedule impacts, and capacity planning with internal partners.
  • Assist in investing and resolving customer complaints related to quality, delivery, and service.
  • Oversee daily batching/operations to meet customer demand with consistent quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot operational issues to ensure reliable output.
  • Partner with QC to ensure adherence to mix designs, specifications, and testing requirements.
  • Address nonconforming product issues and implement corrective actions; support customer jobsite needs when escalations occur.
  • Manage raw material inventory (cement, fly ash/SCM, aggregates, admixtures) to prevent outages and control costs.
  • Monitor plant KPI's (yield, waste, downtime, overtime, productivity, safety metrics).
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree or technical training preferred.
  • 3-5+ years experience in ready mix operations, concrete production, plant operations, or related heavy materials environment.
  • 1-3+ years leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of batching operations, concrete materials, and production scheduling.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and operational compliance (OSHA/MSHA as applicable).
  • Proficiency with plant systems/automation and basic computer applications (production reports, email, spreadsheets).
  • Experience with automated batching systems (e.g. Command Alkon, Sysdyne, etc.).
  • Familiarity with DOT, municipal, and commercial concrete specifications and certifications.
  • Strong communications, problem solving, and team leadership skills.

Physical, mental, and environmental requirements: Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and in an industrial environment (dust, noise, moving equipment). Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; climb ladders/stairs; and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed. Willingness to work early in the morning, extended hours, and occasional weekends during peak construction season.
