About The Blind Goat

The Blind Goat is a modern Vietnamese eatery in Houston's Spring Branch neighborhood, led by James Beard Award-finalist Christine Ha. We're known for thoughtful, creative cooking and an equally thoughtful culture. We take the food and dining experience seriously. We don't take ourselves too seriously. And we believe the best kitchens run on respect, not fear.


The Role

We're looking for a Chef de Cuisine to run our BOH operations and help us keep raising the bar. You'll work closely with Christine Ha to protect the integrity of the menu, contribute creative ideas for new dishes, limited-time specials, and exclusive tasting events, and lead a team of 13 with both precision and care.


This is a senior leadership position. You won't just be managing a line you'll be helping shape the direction of the kitchen, and thus, The Blind Goat.


Key Responsibilities

Culinary & Operations

  • Uphold and execute The Blind Goat's standards for food quality, consistency, and creativity
  • Collaborate with Christine on menu development and seasonal specials
  • Manage and report on COGS, recipe costing, labor, and inventory with real attention to detail
  • Maintain an organized, proactive kitchen environment plan ahead, not behind
  • Comfortable in Google Sheets for costing, Homebase for scheduling, and tracking

Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and genuinely care for a great BOH team of 13 (yes, including the dishwashers EVERYONE matters)
  • Model what a bustling yet calm" kitchen actually looks like in practice
  • Communicate clearly and professionally up and down the chain
  • Think beyond today's service operate as a senior leader who sees the bigger picture

What We're Looking For

  • Executive Sous Chef experience or higher
  • Solid knowledge of Vietnamese and broader Asian cuisines and ingredients
  • Strong professionalism in appearance, attitude, communication, and people management
  • Conversational Spanish is a plus
  • A proactive, problem-solving, detail-obsessed mindset
  • And most importantly: you have to actually be a kind person. We can teach technique and the cuisine. We can't teach character.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: Starting at $70,000
  • Performance-based bonus tied to COGS, labor, and net profit targets
  • 2 weeks (10 days) PTO
  • Dining discounts at our locations
  • Potential domestic and international travel for remote projects and professional development
  • 5-day work week | ~45 55 hours per week
