Job description

Lead Full Stack Engineer - Capital One Software (Remote)

Ever since our first credit card customer in 1994, Capital One has recognized that technology and data can enable even large companies to be innovative and personalized. As one of the first large enterprises to go all-in on the public cloud, Capital One needed to build cloud and data management tools that didn't exist in the marketplace to enable us to operate at scale in the cloud. And in 2022, we publicly announced Capital One Software and brought our first B2B software solution, Databolt and Slingshot to market.

Building on Capital One's pioneering adoption of modern cloud and data capabilities, Capital One Software is helping accelerate the data management journey at scale for businesses operating in the cloud. If you think of the kind of challenges that companies face - things like data publishing, data consumption, data governance, and infrastructure management - we've built tools to address these various needs along the way. Capital One Software will continue to explore where we can bring our solutions to market to help other businesses address these same needs going forward.

In this role, you will be a key partner across engineering and brand teams, collaborating closely with content strategists, designers, and marketing leads. Your work will focus on building and iterating on a website that prioritizes speed, accessibility, and ease of management for the entire team.

What You'll Do:

  • Architect, build and maintain our Marketing website using React, Next.js and Tailwind.css with a focus on performance and scalability.

  • Partner with design to implement polished, pixel-perfect UI components with a strong eye for detail.

  • Integrate with third party services including analytics, CMS, Marketo Forms and A/B testing tools

  • Establish and maintain staging and production deployments with reliability and speed.

  • Collaborate with marketing stakeholders to translate campaign and product goals into technical solutions.

  • Drive Core Web Vitals scores, SEO best practices and web accessibility across all the pages.

  • Govern and continuously optimize development and operations workflows - from branching strategies and release processes to incident response time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)

  • At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of front-end engineering experience

  • Strong understanding of React and Next JS including App Router, server components and SSG/SSR strategies.

  • Strong understanding of TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and responsive/accessible components

  • Experience integrating with headless CMS platforms and third party APIs

  • Experience working directly with Marketing and design stakeholders, translating business needs into technical requirements.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows

  • 3+ years of experience with Contentful CMS

  • Experience with design systems Figma, ShadCn UI
