Martell Ventures

Job description

Compensation: $150,000

This role is In-studio in Kelowna

About Martell Group

The Martell Group exists to build people, brands, and ventures that create meaningful impact. Across our four companies, we combine audience, operators, and execution to launch scalable products and empower ambitious leaders in Media, B2B SaaS, and AI.

Founded by serial entrepreneur and investor Dan Martell (investor in Udemy, Intercom, and Unbounce), we're building a company that values leadership, growth, and simplicity, and we're looking for people who live those values too.

Our goal is to attract world-class talent and align people where their impact is greatest. When you apply to Martell Group, you'll automatically be considered for all open roles across our companies, not just the one you applied for.

Why you shouldn't work here – Radical Transparency from our CEO

About the Role

You'll own the automation backbone that runs Martell Media: the Stripe → CRM → access management pipelines, the AI infrastructure powering Dan Martell's coaching products, and the daily reporting our CEO reads with his morning coffee. We just finished a multi-month migration from GoHighLevel to HubSpot, and we're entering the next phase. Your job is to keep it running, make it better, and ship new automations + AI features that compound over time.

You're stepping into a mature stack with real customers depending on it. There's room to ship new automations and AI features on top of what's already running.

You're also the team's force multiplier. Martell Media is AI-first. Everyone here uses Claude CLI, every day. The job isn't to be a help desk; it's to enable colleagues to solve their own problems, and then build the systems and patterns that prevent the question next time. That's a feature, not a bug. If you'd rather code in isolation, this isn't your role.

What You'll Do

  • Operate the customer lifecycle automation suite: Stripe payments → HubSpot CRM → Mighty Networks access, covering onboarding, offboarding, upgrades, and renewals
  • Own and evolve our internal services: daily revenue reporting, AI pipelines, donation and renewal page backends, video/event integrations (Vimeo, Zoom, Telegram), and customer renewal monitoring
  • Build production AI features: Dan Martell's coaching context system (and the evals that keep it honest), a Chrome-extension sales copilot for Revio CRM grounded in closed-won conversation patterns, and conversation classification pipelines via the Anthropic Batch API
  • Run HubSpot ops: workflow maintenance, property management, brand configuration, marketing contact tier optimization, API integrations for executive reporting
  • Maintain compliance + deliverability: SalesMsg / Twilio A2P 10DLC, DKIM/SPF/DMARC, marketing email IP health
  • Multiply the team's leverage: turn one-off requests into repeatable patterns, and build the tooling that prevents the next question
  • Ship new automations + AI features: find the biggest constraint slowing the team, elevate it with code, then find the next one

Tech Stack

  • Languages: Python, TypeScript, SQL
  • Backend: FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Pydantic
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • Infrastructure: Docker, Google Cloud Platform, GitHub Actions
  • AI/LLMs: Anthropic, OpenAI (production AI for Dan AI features and internal automations)
  • CRM + Automation: HubSpot Enterprise (all 5 Hubs), Zapier, Relay.app, Stripe, WordPress
  • SMS/Email: Twilio + SalesMsg (BYOT), HubSpot Marketing Hub
  • Integrations: Mighty Networks, Zoom, Vimeo, YouTube, Telegram, Notion, Slack
  • Tooling: uv, pytest, Ruff, Claude Code / Cursor / Copilot

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience building Python services in production.
  • Systems Thinker: You see the whole and the parts at the same time. When a Zap misfires, you trace it Stripe → Relay.app → MySQL → HubSpot → Slack and find the seam where data broke, not just the immediate error. You design for the next developer and the next two years, not just today's ticket.
  • Player-Coach: Your teammates' coding language is English. You meet them where they are, level up their leverage, and turn "can you check this for me?" into "here's how you can check it yourself next time."
  • AI-Native Builder: You live in Claude Code / Cursor / Copilot. You've shipped production features using LLM APIs (not just played with ChatGPT). You know when to use an agent, when to use a deterministic script, and when to use no code.
  • Triage Brain: Comfortable holding reactive Tier 1 support, scheduled deep work, and occasional firefighting in the same day. You prioritize fast and don't melt down when the queue is mixed.
  • Fast Learner: The stack is broad and the business is dynamic. You read code, docs, and Slack threads and become productive in days, not weeks.

Bonus Points

  • Prior solo-developer or small-team experience (no development team to lean on)
  • HubSpot administration (workflows, properties, brand-level config)
  • Twilio A2P 10DLC compliance familiarity
  • Domain expertise in coaching, e-learning, or community businesses
  • Experience with the post-migration cleanup phase of a CRM platform move
