Description:

OCH Technologies is seeking a skilled Software Engineer/Systems Integrator to contribute to a significant government project. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to enhance your engineering and software development skills while working on innovative solutions that support mission-critical needs. This role involves providing both software development and infrastructure/architecture support, ensuring compliance with stringent industry standards and delivering reliable, high-performance systems.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Design, develop, and implement robust software solutions using JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Oracle, and the Esri Suite to integrate various components in support of GIS Web Applications.
  • Contribute to the integration of software components to ensure smooth interaction across systems and troubleshooting integration issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to help ensure the system meets high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability requirements.
  • Identify and assist in resolving performance bottlenecks, software bugs, and integration issues, ensuring minimal system downtime.
  • Participate in efforts to optimize the performance, reliability, and efficiency of integrated components.
  • Maintain and update the system architecture to align with evolving requirements, user needs, and industry best practices.
  • Refactor and optimize existing code as part of software modernization effort
  • Develop System Documentation including System Design Documents, Software Architecture documentation, Diagrams, etc.
  • Support efforts related to system upgrades, including testing new software versions and ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure.
  • Requirements gathering, testing, and providing configuration management including software release management, automated pipeline support etc.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of containerized applications.
  • Provide recommendations for system improvements, including architecture development and modernization strategies.
  • Work closely with teams to facilitate communication and ensure project milestones are met on time and within scope.
  • Support ongoing technical and maintenance activities, including security assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, and recommending resolutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis for technical issues affecting system performance, providing timely resolutions.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:


Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Math or Science


Experience:

  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in the field
  • Demonstrated experience in JavaScript, Python, Nginx, and the Esri Suite
  • Experience working effectively within an Agile software development team
  • Experience with GIT and the peer/code review processes
  • Experience integrating software applications, APIs, databases, and external systems
  • Experience with Docker containerization

Security Clearance Requirement:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with TestRail
  • Experience writing unit tests in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience with React
  • Experience with Oracle Databases
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence) for project management, version control, and team collaboration
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines

Other Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Visio, and Outlook
