Department of Information Systems Technology:

The Department of Information Systems Technology (DIST) is an applied research laboratory within the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST) at the University of Central Florida. DIST provides network infrastructure support to the Institute and develops state-of-the-art information systems for a diverse range of sponsors.

The Opportunity:

The Department of Information Systems Technology, an applied research lab within the Institute for Simulation as the University of Central Florida, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Application Developer to join their development team. This role involves both the creation of new applications as well as the maintenance and enhancement of existing systems built in .NET Framework, .NET Core, and ColdFusion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL, GitHub, Microsoft Azure, and Windows Server environments, and will be comfortable working on large, multi-user systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy new applications using C#/.NET (.NET Core and .NET Framework), REACT, and SQL.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing applications to ensure optimal performance and user experience.

  • Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code.

  • Collaborate with other developers, IT personnel, and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.

  • Lead code reviews, testing, and deployment processes.

  • Manage source control using GitHub and follow best practices for versioning and collaboration.

  • Monitor and manage application performance and availability on Microsoft Azure and Windows Server environments.

  • Help mentor junior developers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant toFla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of current professional experience in software development.

  • Strong proficiency in .NET (Core and Framework).

  • Extensive experience with SQL Server and writing complex queries and stored procedures.

  • Proficient with GitHub for version control and collaboration.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and deployment pipelines.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.

The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to high-quality code.

  • Proven experience building and maintaining large-scale, multi-user systems.

  • Prior experience with Cold Fusion.

  • Solid understanding of Windows Server administration and application hosting.

  • Experience in front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS.

  • Experience in R programming is a plus.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $64,518 to $90,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
