Job description

General Summary:
Benton REA is seeking a temporary Journeyman Lineman casual employee to join our Operations department performing skilled installation, construction, maintenance, and repair of the Association's electrical utility distribution and transmission systems. The temporary assignment is expected to last up to six (6) months, with a potential opportunity to turn into a regular full-time assignment.
This position will work out of either Benton REA location, Prosser or West Richland.
Work Schedule Information:
  • 4-10 hour days, Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Subject to overtime for emergencies, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.

Special Requirements:
  • Journeyman Lineman Certificate.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (Class A CDL).
  • Current First Aid, CPR Card, and flagging card, or ability to obtain certifications within 3 months of hire.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Training and experience using hot sticks.
  • Member and in good standing with IBEW.

Compensation:
Pay is assigned per the agreement between IBEW, Local No. 77, and the Northwest Line Constructors Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) for casual employees. Effective February 1, 2026, the straight time rate will be $97.57 per hour, and double time rate (overtime rate) of $170.45 per hour. Hired candidates must become a member of IBEW and pay associated union dues.
