Inova Bariatrics is looking for a dedicated Dietitian Clinical Specialist - Bariatrics to join the Team. This part-time role will be day-shift working Monday & Friday located in Fairfax, VA.


The Dietitian Clinical Specialist - Bariatrics provides safe and therapeutic nutritional care in a comprehensive and systematic manner. Incorporates differences into the provision of care by integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Acts as a resource to physicians, nurses and other allied professional healthcare team members to provide patients with optimum nutritional care.

Dietitian Clinical Specialist - Bariatrics Responsibilities:

  • Assists healthcare team members with documentation related to nutrition.
  • Develops and revises patient education materials and evaluates effectiveness.
  • Assess educational needs of patients/families and provides appropriate nutrition education/counseling.
  • Documents education according to standards in the medical record.
  • Participates as a guest speaker at community events, seminars, workshops or professional events.
  • Develops and implements an individualized plan for professional growth and development.
  • Recognizes trends in patient populations, explores alternatives to care and makes revisions to standards.
  • Collects performance improvement data, monitors outcomes and implements corrective actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's Degree With accredited Dietetic Internship; Bachelor's degree minimum if licensed before 1/1/2024; Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master's Degree
  • Experience: 2 years as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
  • Certification: Registered Dietitian upon start; BLS within 3 months
