Responsibilities
Cardiovascular Sonographer- Certified uses ultrasound to visualize internal cardiac structures, obtain measurements of cardiac valves, ventricles, atria and evaluate hemodynamics of cardiac structures or performs vascular ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to upper and lower venous duplex (DVT and insufficiency testing, vein mapping, dialysis access), upper and lower extremity arterial duplex and physiological, extracranial, TCI/TDC, aortoiliac, renal artery and mesenteric Assists the physician with complex ultrasound procedures. Performs exams by lab protocol using lab diagnostic criteria; completes required information on PACS. Promotes the smooth and efficient operation of the Cardiovascular Ultrasound Department through the appropriate utilization and management of all clerical functions within the department including document handling and disposition, interpersonal relationships and information gathering and dispersion. Meets all requirements set forth by accreditation (ICAEL and ICAVL) and governing bodies, including JCAHO, federal and state bodies, and department-specific requirements. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Completion of an accredited echocardiography or vascular ultrasound program required.
2. Associates degree in ultrasound preferred.
3. Previous experience in performing echocardiograms of all ages preferred, especially hospital-based experience.
4. BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
5. ARDMS (RDCS, adult or pediatric echo or RVT) or CCI (RCS or RVS) registry required second registry (RDCS or RCS if hired under RVT or RVS, or, RVT or RVS if hired under RDCS or RCS) required within 12-months.
6. Proficient computer skills.
