Job description

Kentucky Educational Television, (KET) has the following full-time position opening in Lexington, Kentucky:
Producer
Used by more than two million people each week, KET is Kentucky's only statewide media organization, and broadcasts into 8 states and 10 media markets, along with providing live and on-demand streaming services. In addition to offering high-quality PBS programming, KET annually produces hundreds of hours of award-winning local productions and creates nationally recognized educational resources.
This is a unique opportunity to work with an outstanding, respected, and trusted public media team, and to support a wide variety of public affairs and general productions, including Kentucky's only nightly statewide news program, six locally produced series, and ongoing special programs.

Our ideal Candidate will:
Oversee all content elements and coordinate and execute all aspects of assigned productions including researching, developing, and writing production proposals, and conducting pre-production meetings with content experts.
Direct crew and talent on studio and field productions; initiate the scheduling of travel and accommodations for crew and talent. Operate professional cameras as needed.
Create professional rough edits in a timely and efficient manner. Oversee online edit sessions and all aspects of post-production including graphics creation, color correction, and audio post.
Accurately log and categorize all program and raw footage files for digital archiving.
Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of records necessary for production, broadcast, and digital use including facilities requests, budgets, rights, contracts, music cue sheets, releases, copyright information, operational records, and reports.
Contribute to content distribution across multiple platforms, strengthening digital capacity, and integrating digital production into the daily workflow.
Contribute to and execute the creative and editorial vision of KET Productions.
Effectively collaborate with team members by sharing skills, knowledge, and production processes. Seek and participate in training opportunities related to production, videography, editing, or other processes as applicable.
Produce promotional spots for assigned productions as needed; provide accurate and timely information to the Marketing and Traffic departments. Oversee and package program deliverables according to established formats required by KET, NETA, APT, or PBS.
Successful applicants will have the following minimum qualifications, skills, and experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field plus a minimum of two (2) years of television production experience preferred. Practical experience in television may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience with professional video cameras is required.
Editing experience and directing finishing edit sessions is required.
Must have strong computer, writing, oral communications, and interpersonal skills.
Must be available on a flexible schedule and for weekend and overnight travel.
Employee occasionally moves/lifts/carries equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally employee will be required to operate equipment while standing/sitting for extended periods of time.
Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
