Job description

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 The purpose of this procedure is to define the authorities, responsibilities, principle duties, reporting relationships, and measures of performance for the Journeyman for Raven Mechanical.

2.0 FUNCTIONAL ROLE

2.1 To perform the day-to-day activities of the project while achieving lowest cost, adequate schedule, high quality and safety goals set by the Foreman or Plumbing Lead.

3.0 JOB REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Preferred Education High school graduation or equivalent training.

3.2 Licensing/Registration/Certification: Required to have a valid Texas drivers license; Required to have Journeyman Plumbing license that is issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.

3.3 Experience Two years successful construction installation role in licensed field.

3.4 Skills, knowledge and abilities ability to work independently, supervise and work well with others in a multi-functional fast paced environment. Must be thoroughly familiar with equipment and the construction industry systems and practices.

3.5 Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and find solutions. Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to manage a variety of activities simultaneously. Able to deal with a variety of problems involving human nature.

3.6 Language Skills Ability to communicate and give instructions in a clear and precise style in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies, and employees. Ability to compose standard letters with proper format, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, using all parts of speech. Ability to represent Raven Mechanical in a professional manner within the community.

3.7 Physical Requirements: The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of his/her job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift heavy objects and occasionally be in uncomfortable positions. Physical-Body Positions Standing and/or sitting for long periods. The position occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, stretching, crouching, and lifting. Full body movement. Lifting at least 100 lbs. on a regular basis. Body Movements: Use of both hands, arms, eyes, ears, voice and legs.

3.8 Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. The work normally performed in the construction industry, one may be exposed to high levels of noise, cold and hot temperatures and moving machinery. Work hours will vary in both schedule and length of work hours based upon demand of the project.

4.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

4.1 The Journeyman reports to the Foreman or Plumbing Lead.

5.0 AUTHORITY

The Journeyman is given the necessary authority to administer the following basic functions of this position:

5.1 The Journeyman is vested with full authority to perform each of the responsibilities and duties outlined in this Job Description within the policy parameters established by the Foreman or Plumbing Lead.

6.0 DUTIES & TASKS

The principal duties and tasks of the Journeyman are as follows:

6.1 Performs in highest quality and most efficient manner the installation, repair, or replacement of tasks for assigned job or area

6.2 Reports on-time, ready for work each day with required tools and safety equipment.

6.3 Consistently available when scheduled and can be depended upon.

6.4 Begins work as assigned and works productively throughout the day.

6.5 Determines work requirements from either instructions from the Foreman or from provided construction documents.

6.6 Performs work effectively and correctly according to instructions, documents and appropriate standard procedures required for the specific installation, repair, or replacement systems.

6.7 Consistently accomplishes assigned work on time and at the quality standard expected by the Company.

6.8 Demonstrates competence in all aspects of installation, repair, or replacement of systems for the job site he/she is assigned to. Make sure all completed products meet the quality standards. Keep rework and/or call backs to a minimum.

6.9 Provides leadership for Apprentices and Helpers when assigned.


6.10 Communicates with the Foreman regarding job progress and issues needing attention, as required.

6.11 Monitors condition and safety of Tools and Equipment and assures proper maintenance has been requested or provided.

6.12 Complies with OSHA and Company Safety plans and requirements at all times.

6.13 Treats all customer representatives with respect at all times and always behaves in a professional manner that reflects positively on the Company.

6.14 Maintains a safe and clean work area.

6.15 Provides all required data for the reporting of time and job progress as required.

6.16 Trains and develops individuals as assigned.

6.17 Conforms to the policies outlined in the employee handbook.

6.18 Constantly study and analyze the field activities and search for methods to enhance efficiency, limit risks, lower costs and improve quality.

6.19 Performs any other appropriate task or duty that may be requested or assigned by Foreman or other superior.

7.0 STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

7.1 Consistently receives high project evaluation ratings.

7.2 Consistently completes assigned work on time, in appropriate quantity and at company quality standards.

7.3 Keeps work area clear and well organized and helps keep site well organized.

7.4 There have been no accidents due to personal negligence.

7.5 Work is sufficiently thorough that Punch list items are kept to a minimum.

7.6 Brings a positive mental attitude to the workplace every day.

7.7 Communicates with the Foreman regarding job progress and issues needing attention, as required.

7.8 Provides leadership and training for Apprentices and Helpers when assigned.

7.9 Monitors condition and safety of Tools and Equipment and assures proper maintenance has been requested or provided.

7.10 Constantly study and analyze the field activities and search for methods to enhance efficiency, limit risks, lower costs and improve quality.

7.11 Performs all duties in an independent and expeditious manner with minimal supervision and has made optimal use of time during working hours.

7.12 Consistently displays the ability to recognize and deal with priorities.
