What is the difference between Rate Pay vs Hourly Pay?

Rate Pay typically refers to a fixed amount paid per task or project, common in freelance or contract work, while Hourly Pay is based on the actual hours worked, typical for employees. Understanding these differences helps workers and employers choose the right compensation structure for their needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Payroll Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Payroll Specialist, you need strong attention to detail, knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, and experience with payroll processing, often supported by a degree in accounting or a related field. Familiarity with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks, as well as certification like the Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), is commonly required. Excellent organizational skills, confidentiality, and effective communication help build trust and ensure accurate, timely payroll execution. These capabilities are crucial for minimizing errors, ensuring compliance, and supporting employee satisfaction within an organization.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals managing rate pay within an organization?

Professionals handling rate pay often face challenges such as ensuring compliance with labor laws, accurately calculating variable pay rates for overtime or shift differentials, and keeping up with changes in wage regulations. Additionally, they must coordinate closely with HR, payroll, and finance teams to ensure data accuracy and timely payments. Navigating complex pay structures and addressing employee concerns about pay discrepancies also require strong communication and problem-solving skills.

What are rate pay jobs?

Rate pay jobs are positions where employees are compensated based on a set rate, which can be hourly, daily, or per unit of work completed, rather than receiving a fixed salary. This type of pay structure is common in industries such as manufacturing, retail, and hospitality, where work hours or output can vary. Rate pay offers flexibility for both employers and employees but may result in fluctuating income depending on the amount of work available. Understanding the rate and any overtime or bonus policies is important for employees considering these roles.

Job description

Great techs deserve a great shop.
AmeriFix (formerly TMT Automotive) is a family-owned, fast-growing repair group looking for skilled Automotive Technicians who want competitive pay, real work/life balance, and the chance to work in a clean, well-equipped shop with a strong team.
We know what it is like to feel unappreciated as a great technician. We know how it feels to not have your voice heard and to work with broken tools - or no tools at all. We strive to always show appreciation and be the place EVERYONE wants to work.
With 20+ years of success and 11 locations across Middle Tennessee, we've built our reputation on honest, high-quality service at a fair price, and we're now bringing that same approach to Indiana. We treat our employees like family and believe that when people feel valued and supported, they take even better care of our customers.
Our shops handle everything from maintenance and alignments to major repairs, engine swaps, and transmission replacements. You'll work on a variety of brands and have the opportunity to keep growing your skills in an industry that never stands still.
We fully understand that the person we're looking for likely already has a job. But if you're reading this and don't feel respected, treated fairly, or genuinely cared about where you are now, we need to talk.
Why Join AmeriFix:
  • Competitive flat rate pay with strong earning potential
  • Full book time for warranty jobs
  • Service Advisors who can sell your work!
  • 5 day work week (Monday-Friday!)
  • No late nights or weekends
  • Well-lit, climate-controlled shops
  • Up-to-date tools and technology
  • Specialty tools provided
  • Tool reimbursement
  • Company-paid training and career development
  • Potential ASE reimbursement
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays
  • Employer-paid life insurance and long-term disability
  • Short-term disability, accident, and critical illness coverage
  • Christmas Club program with company match
  • Company events
  • A team that values professionalism, respect, and doing the job right
  • Family owned!

What We're Looking For:
  • At least 5 years of automotive technician experience
  • Strong diagnostic and repair ability
  • Ability to perform thorough inspections and quality repairs
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Own tools required; specialty tools provided
  • Team player with a professional attitude
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

$28 - $45 an hour
We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcome everyone to apply. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.

These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
