Job description

1-800-PACK-RAT was founded in 2002 with a focus on making moving and storage simple. With portable storage containers, customers have the flexibility to choose on-site storage, warehouse storage, local moving, long-distance moving or any combination. Our team of experts is available to help customers from start to finish with the goal of exceeding every customer’s expectations.

Summary/objective

Warehouse Supervisors ensure a smooth business environment with the focus of optimal efficiency. They are responsible for implementing workflow procedures based on direction from the company’s Operations Manager. Duties include supervising, managing, and scheduling facility employees during day-to-day processes.  Managing the overall safe operation of the facility, management of containers moving in and out of warehouse, inventory, customer service and general warehouse maintenance.  Providing excellent customer service and a safe work environment.

  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to oversee daily business operations.
  • Train, Communicate and Enforce Company, OSHA and DOT Safety Procedures
  • Responsible for enforcing company policies and procedures within the office
  • Perform facility opening and closing functions
  • Manage maintenance and cleanliness of warehouse and related equipment. 
  • Prepare, evaluate, and balance the employee schedules.
  • Manage facility inventory and assets.
  • Work and manage warehouse including load and unload third party trucks and company trucks using forklift and pallet jacks
  • Drive when the schedule demands it.
  • Train drivers and forklift operators
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Participate in recruitment and dismissal processes
  • Manage issues within the workplace
  • Proactively develop and recommend strategies for better workplace efficiency, safety, and goal achievement
  • Attend to email and phone correspondence
  • Serve as primary liaison with Dispatch and Freight department on inbound/outbound containers.
  • Manager Warehouse Staff including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and dismissing under guidance of the Operations Manager

Specialized knowledge and/or licenses  

  • Forklift certification
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • CDL Class A or B license prefered

Supervisory responsibilities

Facility staff

Required education and experience.

  • High school diploma required, BS or BA preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years customer service experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of store operations and/or management experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years forklift experience
