Job description

Foreman – Mining Operations

Lead. Take Ownership. Build the Team. Deliver Safe, Efficient Production.

Rango Inc. is a rapidly growing contract mine services company supporting customers across aggregates, precious metals, industrial minerals, and other mining sectors. Our culture is fast-paced, team-oriented, and built around an uncompromising commitment to Safety, Operational Excellence, and Customer Service.

We are looking for a Foreman who wants to lead—not just manage.

The Foreman is responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive operation of an assigned mine site. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who takes initiative, plans ahead, solves problems, develops people, and takes ownership of the overall performance of the operation.

What This Position Requires

This is an active field leadership position. The successful candidate must be willing and able to:

  • Travel to Rango project locations as business needs require.
  • Work day or night shifts, depending on project and operational requirements.
  • Work varying start and end times based on site needs.
  • Work extended shifts and additional hours as needed to support safe and effective operations.
  • Adjust schedules and responsibilities as operational conditions, customer requirements, staffing, or production needs change.
  • Maintain leadership presence and accountability through changing schedules and operating conditions.

What We're Looking For

We want leaders who:

  • Take ownership of their site, crew, equipment, and results.
  • Plan ahead rather than simply react to problems as they occur.
  • Lead by example and maintain Rango standards even when no one is watching.
  • Understand that a Foreman is a leader, not a boss—earning respect through knowledge, accountability, consistency, and example.
  • Drive Safe, Efficient Production every day.
  • Look for ways to improve production, equipment utilization, cycle times, staffing, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Protect company equipment and understand that equipment care directly impacts production and profitability.
  • Hold employees accountable while providing the coaching and support necessary for them to succeed.
  • Develop Leads and operators into stronger employees and future leaders.
  • Work collaboratively with Maintenance, Heavy Haul, other Rango sites, customers, and company leadership.
  • Take initiative when something needs to be done rather than waiting to be told.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily mine site operations and supervise field employees.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and MSHA-ready workplace.
  • Conduct required workplace examinations and ensure safety standards are consistently followed.
  • Ensure proper equipment inspections, defect reporting, housekeeping, and equipment care.
  • Monitor equipment availability, utilization, downtime, staffing, and production.
  • Identify operational problems and develop solutions before they impact production.
  • Monitor cycle times, haul distances, loading and hauling performance, and other key operational metrics.
  • Plan staffing, equipment, maintenance, and operational needs to support production goals.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained, coached, and developed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, Maintenance, Heavy Haul, and Rango leadership.
  • Maintain accurate production, safety, payroll, and operational reporting.
  • Understand contract requirements, scope of work, material codes, and T&M activities.
  • Maintain compliance with Rango policies, MSHA requirements, and site-specific rules.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce unnecessary costs, and improve site performance.

Leadership & Advancement

At Rango, we believe the best leaders develop more leaders.

Foremen are expected to actively mentor employees, provide meaningful coaching and challenges, and identify individuals with the ability and desire to take on greater responsibility. We believe in promoting from within and creating opportunities for employees who demonstrate initiative, accountability, technical ability, and leadership potential.

Your success as a Foreman will not be measured only by what you accomplish yourself—it will be measured by the team you build and the leaders you develop.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of mining, heavy equipment, aggregate, heavy civil, or related experience preferred.
  • Previous Lead, Supervisor, or Foreman experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of MSHA and mine-site safety requirements.
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment operation, inspections, and basic mechanical principles.
  • Ability to understand and use production and equipment performance metrics.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and hold employees accountable.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to take initiative.
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment and in an active mine environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Benefits

  • 401(k) with company matching
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Paid time off

Why Rango?

Rango is growing, and we are looking for people who want to grow with us.

If you are someone who takes initiative, thinks beyond the current shift, holds yourself and others to a high standard, and wants to build a career in mining leadership, we want to hear from you.

At Rango, we don't just operate mines. We build teams, develop leaders, and pursue operational excellence—every shift, every day.
