Job description

CONTROLLER: Established construction and development organization seeking a highly experienced Controller to lead corporate accounting operations, financial reporting, and multi-entity oversight. This role is a key leadership position within the Corporate Support Office, responsible for ensuring financial integrity, driving process improvement, and supporting continued company growth. This is a direct hire, full-time position with strong visibility to executive leadership.


Controller Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all corporate accounting functions including A/P, A/R, GL, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Lead cash flow management, forecasting, and treasury functions across multiple entities
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including financial statements and reporting packages
  • Oversee WIP reporting, job costing, and project financial review processes
  • Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and monthly performance reporting across regions and divisions
  • Provide financial guidance and reporting support to executive leadership and regional managers, including cost-at-completion analysis
  • Manage banking relationships and corporate cash accounts
  • Coordinate annual audit/review process with external CPA firm
  • Lead and develop accounting team (8–12 staff), including hiring, training, workflow management, and performance oversight
  • Drive process improvements across corporate and regional accounting functions to improve efficiency and scalability
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, including percentage-of-completion accounting standards


Senior Controller Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in construction, heavy industrial, or development environments
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and percentage-of-completion accounting required
  • Proven experience managing accounting teams and multi-entity financial operations
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems such as Sage 300, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP platforms
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting at a corporate level
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment with multiple stakeholders
