Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Engineer / Inspector to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).ย

The Quality Control (QC) Engineer / Inspector provides quality control support to operations and project teams for construction or non-construction projects. Performs quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of operations, project and/or maintenance activities.ย 

Responsibilities
  • Inspects, witnesses, tests, performs surveillance and prepares documentation to verify construction activities are performed in accordance with established criteria.
  • Identifies and documents nonconformance's.
  • Supports verification that resolutions are in accordance with approved dispositions.
  • Coordinates with internal sources to resolve quality issues and provides status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity.
  • Reviews supplier's and subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance.
  • Initiates quality release documents that indicate the subcontractor has fulfilled the contract quality documentation requirements.
  • Performs visual inspections of material and equipment when received to ensure freedom from damage and that traceability is maintained as required.
  • Performs mathematical calculations or conversions to determine correct values to determine acceptance/rejection of an item or activity.
  • Conducts final walk-downs for work activity completion and verification that all work is completed, inspected and documented.
  • Attends status meetings to provide input from the quality control department.
  • Monitors operations maintenance, subcontractors and supplier's workmanship, installation of material and equipment for quality control compliance.
  • Reviews design output documents in accordance with approved procedures to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, inspection plans and/or work packages.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (engineering or science) and practical work experience in predictive maintenance or related areas as described in the job description; or
  • Bachelor's degree in a non-technical discipline and practical work experience in predictive maintenance or related areasย as described in the job description; or
  • Associate's degree and practical experience in predictive maintenance or related areas as described in the job description; or
  • High School Diploma/GED and practical work experience in predictive maintenance or related areas as described in the job description.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree
  • Previous/current quality certifications
  • Certification with continuing training is required for performance of inspection and contract surveillance activities.
  • Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas.
