Green Cell Consulting is seeking an experienced Range Safety Specialist to support military training operations in Bridgeport, California. This position provides hands-on range safety support, inspections, risk management, RFMSS support, and oversight of training activities in a demanding operational environment.

This is an immediate hiring need. Candidates with Marine Corps range safety, Range Control, RFMSS, RSO, or OIC experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Summary

The Range Safety Specialist reports to and receives work direction from the Site Lead and provides range safety support to help ensure safe, compliant, and effective military training operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Make recommendations to resolve range and safety conflicts not covered by installation range SOPs.
  • Conduct semiannual reviews of RFMSS facility, event, ammunition, and environmental conflicts in accordance with applicable guidance.
  • Review updates to installation range SOPs and recommend corresponding updates to RFMSS administration tables.
  • Develop and maintain a range safety inspection schedule for approval by the Range Safety Officer.
  • Inspect ranges to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational readiness.
  • Deliver range incident reports using RFMSS reporting tools.
  • Provide inspection services in accordance with MCO 3570.1C, installation SOPs, and range-specific requirements.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and report maintenance issues.
  • Monitor training events and enforce safety procedures, including issuing cease-fire when necessary.
  • Provide on-site recommendations to correct safety issues and notify Range Control of unresolved concerns.
  • Conduct range safety briefs for training units.
  • Provide feedback on training facility usage to support continuous improvement.
  • Perform Operational Risk Management (ORM) assessments.
  • Attend required training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Training and Certifications
  • Range Safety Distance Learning Course (MarineNet).
  • RFMSS Functional Administrator Course.
  • Inter-Service Range Safety Course.
  • Range Manager Tool Kit (RMTK) Course, formerly GIS for Range Managers.
  • Weapons Danger Zone (WDZ) Course.
  • Range Airspace Manager Course.
Experience
  • Minimum of one year of range safety experience.
  • Former SNCO or Officer with experience as a Range Safety Officer (RSO) or Officer in Charge (OIC) preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Position Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying environmental conditions.
  • Daily travel within designated training areas, including U.S. military installations.
  • Availability for 24/7 operations, including weekends, evenings, and rotating shifts.
  • Must qualify as an authorized company driver.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain authorization for access to U.S. military installations.
