Qualifications

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for assessing patient's medical needs, monitoring medications, administering and tracking TB skin tests, monitoring random drug screens, and assisting medical providers as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Completes medical screening and/or assessment of new patients immediately upon admission according to level of care procedures. Monitors medication process for individuals living in residential facilities including supervision of medication distribution, supervising self-administration process. Prepares Medication Administration Record (MAR). Provides on-going patient education (group and individual) regarding medications. Implements and monitors procedures for random urine drug screens to ensure that each individual is screened as appropriate. Participates in weekly staff and clinical meetings. Cross-trains and supports other areas as needed or requested by supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrates a broad base of knowledge in psychiatric and addiction treatment and administration. Ability to build relationships with diverse individuals and groups. Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. Must have general knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Education and Experience High School Degree or GED required. Unencumbered State of Michigan LPN license. Minimum 3 years of experience working in psychology/psychiatry or related field preferred.
