Ranch Manager — Colorado

Location: Glendevey, Colorado

Employment type: Full-time, year-round

Compensation: $ depending on experience. If someone has a tremendous amount of experience, we would be willing to compensate more.

Housing: on ranch two bedroom apartment with separate office. Benefits: health

About the ranch

Rose Valley ranch is a privately owned ranch that is used as a recreational ranch for a

private family. We grow hay, run cattle in the summer and have recreational horses.

The ranch is in north central Colorado, located 55 miles south of Laramie, Wyoming and

an hour from Walden, Colorado. We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and

hands-on Ranch Manager to oversee daily ranch operations, livestock care, property

maintenance, staff coordination, and long-term stewardship of the land.

Position summary

The Ranch Manager will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of the

ranch. This position requires strong practical skills, sound judgment, excellent organization, and the

ability to work independently in changing weather and terrain conditions.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working with livestock, operating and maintaining

equipment, supervising contractors or employees, managing projects, and communicating regularly

with the owners.

Key responsibilities

 Oversee daily ranch operations and seasonal work plans.

 Manage the care, feeding, handling, breeding, and health of livestock.

 Coordinate veterinary, farrier, breeding, and other animal-care services.

 Maintain fences, gates, corrals, barns, roads, irrigation systems, water lines, wells, and ranch

infrastructure.

 Operate, inspect, and maintain tractors, trucks, ATVs, implements, and other equipment.

 Coordinate hay production, pasture rotation, grazing, weed control, and feed management.

 Monitor water resources, livestock conditions, fencing, and pasture health.

 Supervise ranch employees, seasonal workers, vendors, and contractors as needed.

 Create schedules and prioritize maintenance, repairs, and improvement projects.

 Maintain accurate records for livestock, equipment, supplies, expenses, and work completed.

 Purchase feed, fuel, supplies, parts, and other materials within approved budgets.

 Maintain a safe, clean, and organized ranch environment.


Qualifications

 At least [3–5] years of progressive ranch-management or comparable livestock experience.

 Demonstrated experience with cattle, horses, or [other livestock].

 Strong knowledge of livestock care, pasture management, fencing, irrigation, and equipment

operation.

 Ability to operate and maintain tractors, trucks, trailers, ATVs, and ranch machinery.

 Mechanical, welding, carpentry, plumbing, or electrical skills are highly desirable.

 Experience managing employees, contractors, and outside service providers.


 Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

 Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.

 Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

 Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds and work outdoors in Colorado’s varied weather and

terrain.

 Willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and emergency call-ins when ranch

conditions require.

 Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred qualifications

 Experience with Colorado ranching, high-altitude operations, or western livestock systems.

 CDL or experience towing livestock and equipment trailers.

 Welding and fabrication experience.

 Irrigation, well, pump, or water-system experience.

 Familiarity with ranch recordkeeping and basic budgeting.

 Experience with horses, cattle handling facilities, haying, or rotational grazing.

 Agricultural, animal-science, natural-resources, or related training.

land, buildings, and equipment. They are safety-minded, self-motivated, resourceful, respectful of

privacy, and comfortable balancing hands-on work with planning, supervision, and communication.

Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. The ranch may provides:
