Job Summary The Expert, Information Architecture is responsible for ensuring, via models, standards, technologies, and processes, that information is handled as a strategic business. The role is for a driven information architect to help build the next generation cloud and web native applications for CN's new customer facing portals. The new portal aims to service both existing and new customers and use-cases and will help bridge the gap between legacy systems and modern applications and flows. Main Responsibilities

       Understand CN's customer systems requirements and business processes and translates them into information architecture models.

       Develop, deliver, maintain, communicate, and govern information architecture strategy, standards, guidelines, diagrams, and models.

       Identify and resolve gaps between solution conceptual models and the Business Information Model (BIM) as well as gaps between solution logical models and the enterprise logical data model

       Understand and govern business processes related to Customer Services applications.

       Using Domain Drive Design to ensure alignment and architecture across domains.

       Define the data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modelling, metadata, security, reference data, master data, versioning, lineage, and data lifecycle.

       Lead architectural discussions and design exercises to educate best practices for data management

       Define the policies, procedures, models to be used in collecting, organizing, storing, and accessing information

       Design conceptual data, logical data, and business process models

       Communicate deliverables with software engineering and supporting the development of logical and physical data models

       Design and lead the data model and overall architecture of the data

       Ensure alignment with corporate information standards, policies, solution, technology, and business architecture

       Participate in relevant recurring architecture & design meetings

       Work with peer architects, providing guidance on a comprehensive governance model to ensure solutions are developed according to the developed information architecture

 Requirements 

Information Architecture

       Minimum 10 years of overall work experience

       Minimum 5 years demonstrating technical leadership qualities or overseeing deliverables

       Between 7 to 10 years experience in a similar role

.   Experience understanding, designing, and implementing information architectures that enable well-integrated transactional, collaborative and analytical systems

.   Experience with various information modelling types and techniques at the enterprise level

       Inspires others with impactful communications and adapts to the audience through speech and writing 

       Applies analytical thinking

       Innovates through problem solving

       Knows the business and stays current with industry trends to elevate expertise and work

       Demonstrates organizational abilities

       Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to enable higher productivity

       Works independently with little supervision

Technical Skills/Knowledge

       Expert Knowledge of taxonomies and ontologies, as well as the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modelling) to less structured sources

       Expert Knowledge of designing high volume, high performance transactional applications and services data using information, data and integration patterns.

       Good Knowledge of business intelligence, data warehousing, relational and
non-relational database management systems, and other data structures.

       Good Knowledge of best practices and latest trends in the information architecture practice (e.g., Non-Structured Query Language (NoSQL), Master Data Management (MDM), Big Data).

       Knowledge of Information and Enterprise Architecture tools such as Ardoq, Enterprise Architect SparX, Erwin, Microsoft Visio or others*

       Knowledge of rail, transportation, or logistics industry*

*Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset

Education

       Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent demonstrated experience
