Job description

The Railroad Business Unit of Modjeski and Masters is seeking Bridge Design Engineers with an experience in Railroad Bridge Design. This is an exciting opportunity to start your career with one of the nationโ€™s leading bridge engineering firms, working alongside experts on projects that shape our rail infrastructure.

Positions are available in our Washington DC, Mechanicsburg, PA, New Orleans, LA and Kansas City, MO officesย 


What Weโ€™re Looking For
  • At minimum a BS in Civil Engineering from anย ABET accredited College or University
  • Engineers with 4 - 10ย years related experience in Railroad Bridge Designย required
  • Valid PE or within 6 months of obtainingย 
  • Familiarity with AREMAย 

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Assist Project Managers in identifying issues and developing solutions.ย 
  • Perform structural design and detailing of railroad bridge components as one of the primary project engineers with limited guidance from Project Managers and Senior Structural Engineers.
  • Mentor and work withย Junior Engineers on projects.
  • Perform tasks on multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities, including field and construction service assignments as needed.
  • Perform railroad bridge analysis, design and detailing based on the AREMA Manual.
  • Familiarity with CADD software, Microsoft Office Software, and structural analysis software.
  • Possesses, or have the ability to develop effective leadership and communication skills necessary to lead teams of engineers and technicians.
  • Problem-solving skills necessary to resolve both design and detailing issues.
  • Ability to identify appropriate steps in the bridge design and detailing process, and the initiative to complete the necessary tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members.
  • Ability to effectively receive and convey ideas and information orally and in writing with co-workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members.
