Railcar Mechanic – Atlanta, GA

Location: Fulton County, Atlanta, GA
Schedule: Full-Time | First Shift
Pay: Negotiable based on experience

Bring Your Mechanical Skills to the Rail Industry

Road & Rail Services is hiring an experienced Railcar Mechanic to support our Fulton County operation. In this role, you will inspect, maintain, and repair railcars so they are safe and ready for transportation.

This is a hands-on outdoor position for someone with strong mechanical ability, experience using hand and power tools, and the judgment to identify which repairs can be completed safely on-site.

What You'll Do

As a Railcar Mechanic, you will inspect railcars for damage, wear, and mechanical concerns. You will complete approved repairs according to customer requirements and Association of American Railroads standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Inspecting railcars for damage, fatigue, and serviceability
• Identifying and completing authorized mechanical repairs
• Lubricating railcars and marking the service date
• Accurately documenting all completed repairs

You will also notify management when a railcar cannot be repaired on-site and assist with preparing railcars when needed. Prep work may include using backpack blowers, brooms, vacuums, and scraping tools to remove debris and nonhazardous contaminants.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced mechanic who can work safely, follow repair specifications, and remain productive in an outdoor industrial environment.

Qualified candidates should have:

• Previous mechanical, railcar repair, or industrial maintenance experience
• Experience using pipe wrenches, pry bars, ratchets, grinders, and other hand tools
• The ability to inspect equipment and identify repair needs
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and accurate documentation

Experience operating tractors, all-terrain vehicles, pickup trucks, or similar equipment may also be helpful.
