After Brightline Florida completed the first passenger rail system connecting Miami and Orlando, Brightline West was formed to connect Las Vegas and Southern California through the nation's first true high-speed, electric passenger rail system. Reaching speeds of more than 186 miles per hour, this 218-mile high-speed rail service will take passengers from Las Vegas to the Greater Los Angeles area twice as fast as the normal drive time.
We are looking for talented individuals to join Brightline West, who share our pioneering mindset for building something that is the first of its kind and have a bright vision for redefining the future of American travel.
SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Controller to join our Brightline West team. This individual will manage and perform the construction accounting and cost control activities for the Company's infrastructure and vertical construction activities. This individual supports the attainment of strategic, policy, and/or project-specific goals and outcomes through delivery of construction cost accounting, project control services, ensuring close alignment between project control staff and project management team(s).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • In coordination with the Construction Management project team, lead the development, preparation, and maintenance of project cost estimation, construction cost accounting, cost control, financial risk management, and contingency determination and management, incorporating current best practices used in the construction and transportation infrastructure industries.
  • Ensures integration of cost practices and methods, and supports the development of cost management policies, procedures, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinates input from Contract Management Specialists and Construction Managers on areas impacting project costs and budget.
  • Participates in risk evaluation sessions or preconstruction reviews for major capital construction projects/program in coordination with risk manager and construction management teams.
  • Responsible for all activities detailed above, while gathering input from relevant parties (e.g., Contract Management Specialist, Construction Managers) and receiving approval from Project Director on areas impacting the development and construction projects.
  • Works directly with the VP Capital Projects to prepare monthly project and construction management reports and to coordinate the processing of payments to contractors and vendors.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting is required, with a CPA designation preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the Infrastructure, Transportation, or Real Estate Construction industry is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated project control cost skills.
  • Experienced with Aconex, Net Suite, SAGE/Timberline, Procore, PMWeb, and MSPS.
  • Experience with Project Controls management relating to cost, scheduling, and estimating at a project level.
  • Extremely detail-oriented individual who possesses comprehensive knowledge of document management processes.
