Job description

As Project Manager, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of fencing and associated works across HS2 projects. You will be responsible for planning, organising and coordinating all site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.

This role requires a highly organised and proactive individual who can manage multiple schemes simultaneously, drive production, coordinate resources and maintain strong control of commercial performance. Working closely with the Operations Manager, Supervisors, Installation Teams and Commercial Team, you will ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality and client satisfaction.

You will be expected to take ownership of project delivery from planning through to completion, ensuring resources, productivity, programme performance and costs are effectively managed while maintaining excellent relationships with clients, HS2 stakeholders and supply chain partners.
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of fencing and associated works across HS2 projects.
  • Plan, organise and coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to achieve programme requirements.
  • Drive productivity and performance across multiple work fronts whilst maintaining a focus on safety and quality.
  • Monitor project costs, production outputs and commercial performance, ensuring works remain aligned with budgets and contract requirements.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to forecast resources and plan upcoming works.
  • Lead and support Supervisors, Site Managers and Installation Teams, promoting high standards of workmanship and professionalism.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with HS2 requirements, client specifications and company procedures.
  • Review and manage programmes, identifying risks and opportunities that may affect delivery.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
  • Maintain accurate project records, reporting on progress, costs, productivity and performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
  • Support commercial teams with valuations, variations, change control and cost management.
  • Ensure quality standards are consistently achieved and a right-first-time approach is adopted across all projects.
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste and enhance project performance.
  • Proven experience managing construction, infrastructure, fencing, rail, highways or civil engineering projects.
  • Strong planning, organisational and project management skills.
  • Experience managing operational teams and subcontractors.
  • Good commercial awareness with experience managing project costs and budgets.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations and construction health and safety requirements.
  • SMSTS qualification preferred.
  • CSCS Manager Card desirable.
  • Good computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience producing programmes, reports and project documentation.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • Experience working within the HS2 supply chain.
  • Knowledge of fencing, security fencing and perimeter protection systems.
  • NEC contract awareness.
  • Temporary Works awareness.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and quality assurance processes.
