Job description

Overview:

ConGlobal is hiring immediately for a key role in our global supply chain. ConGlobal offers a pay differential for those operating in a Lead capacity in this role. 

📍 Location: 4800 N KIMBALL DR, KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI 64161
💲 Starting Pay: $1.00 pay differential for this role
🕐 Status: Full-Time | Immediate Hire

🕔 Schedule: Open availability required, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.

As the Lead Terminal Operator, you will play a key leadership role in the development and daily management of the Terminal Operator team. This role is critical in ensuring smooth and efficient intermodal yard operations through hands-on support, employee training, and workflow coordination. You will be responsible for onboarding, training, and mentoring new and current team members, ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to operate safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise a team of Terminal Operators to ensure smooth daily yard operations.

  • Train and orient all new employees; provide ongoing skills development and safety training for existing staff.

  • Operate and assist in the operation of intermodal equipment including hostlers, cranes, top loaders, and side loaders.

  • Monitor workflow and enforce operational procedures to maintain high productivity and safety standards.

  • Coordinate with dispatch, logistics teams, and yard supervisors to support timely loading/unloading of containers.

  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance checks on equipment.

  • Serve as a point of escalation for on-site operational challenges.

  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the terminal team.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

  • Effective communication skills; both verbal and written.

  • Proven ability to train and develop team members.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and management.

  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Comfortable climbing ladders and stairs, including on/off railcars.

  • Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening
    • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.
