AI/ML Engineer Remote Blu Omega is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to support a federal program focused on public health. This role operates within a remote environment and is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI and machine learning solutions supporting mission-critical public health initiatives. The position requires experience supporting AI solutions in mission-driven environments, with a focus on modernizing platforms through emerging AI capabilities. Program Overview A federal public health program dedicated to advancing mission capabilities through innovative AI and ML solutions. Key Details Location: Remote Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination Responsibilities * Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions using LLMs, AI agents, RAG, and other generative AI technologies to enhance platform capabilities and support mission outcomes. * Serve as a technical lead for AI initiatives, including defining solution architectures, engineering approaches, and implementation strategies. * Architect foundational AI systems, including data models for AI agents, memory and state management, context management, and end-to-end RAG pipelines. * Build solutions enabling AI applications to interact effectively with structured and unstructured public health data. * Design and implement evaluation frameworks to measure AI solution accuracy, reliability, relevance, and performance. * Optimize retrieval, ranking, and generation workflows to improve RAG and agentic AI application performance. * Develop and refine machine learning models and AI capabilities using Python, SQL, Azure, and relevant frameworks. * Establish data quality, curation, validation, and documentation standards in collaboration with cross-functional teams. * Apply MLOps practices, including model tracking, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring using tools such as MLflow. * Ensure AI solutions adhere to privacy, security, and responsible AI standards specific to public health data environments. * Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, public health experts, and stakeholders to translate mission needs into technical AI solutions. Required Qualifications * 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models and AI solutions. * Extensive experience developing generative AI, LLM, and RAG-based applications. * Hands-on experience using Python for machine learning, AI development, and data engineering. * Experience architecting and implementing modern AI solutions from concept through deployment. * Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud-based AI, data, or ML services. * Proficiency with SQL for data manipulation and analysis. * Experience designing or implementing RAG pipelines, semantic retrieval, or AI agents. * Knowledge of AI evaluation methodologies for assessing generative AI system quality. * Knowledge of MLOps tools and practices, including MLflow. * Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. * Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. * Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination. * Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications * Experience delivering data-centric AI or ML solutions within healthcare, biomedical, public health, or federal environments. * Experience with full-stack development or deploying end-to-end AI/ML applications. * Operationalizing machine learning solutions through MLOps pipelines. * Familiarity with government public health data architectures and systems. * Experience developing chatbots or conversational AI applications. * Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira. * Experience with AI governance, responsible AI, data privacy, or model evaluation in regulated environments. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Compensation Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
