Job description

Radiologic Technologist

Assist physicians and other staff members with care of patients in producing high quality radiographs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Must have a command of radiographic technique.
  • Must have command of medical imaging system and be able to assist other staff members as needed.
  • Responsible for understanding and carrying out radiology requisitions and views.
  • Memorize what views each physician requires on exams.
  • Assist patients in getting into the positions required to get the radiographs needed with the occasional need to lift the patient.
  • Take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Stock necessary supplies.
  • Use a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Assist with and provides direct training and supervision to student technologists.
  • Ensure equipment is in working order. Report any malfunction to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Carry out radiology requisitions and views. Use radiographic technique, medical imaging system, and assist other staff members as needed.
  • Operate all portables and C-Arm equipment (if applicable).
  • Provide back up support to Medical Assistants, which includes rooming patients, transcribing, entering tests and procedures, EMR documentation, reviewing initial vital signs, assisting with minor procedures (e.g. suture/staple removal), assisting with DME placement/removal, and ensuring all equipment and exam rooms are sterilized and clean/stocked (if applicable).
  • Import and upload outside CDs for clinic.

Experience:

Required:

  • None.

Preferred:

  • Previous orthopaedic experience.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program or equivalent military training.
  • Completion of coursework required for appropriate state licensure and certification(s) (if applicable).

Special Qualifications:

Required:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge of radiographic technique and medical imaging system(s).
  • Vast knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy.
  • Ability to work independently and have working knowledge of HIPAA requirements.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) may be required (MVR will be screened on an annual basis).
