Job description

About The Radical

The Radical is Asheville's boldest boutique hotel — a creative, culture-forward space where art, food, community, and unconventional hospitality collide. We're not your average hotel. Our team thrives on personality, passion, and genuine connection with the guests and city we serve. If you're someone who sees the overnight shift not as a quiet post but as your time to own the guest experience, we want to meet you.

Position Summary

As Night Auditor at The Radical, you are the anchor of the overnight experience. While the city sleeps, you're the calm, capable presence keeping the hotel running flawlessly — balancing financial accuracy with warm, attentive service for every guest who walks through our doors after dark. This role blends hospitality, accounting, and problem-solving in a way that's uniquely yours each shift.

What You'll DoGuest Experience & Front Desk
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all overnight guests — check-ins, check-outs, and everything in between.
  • Create a welcoming, personalized arrival experience regardless of the hour.
  • Anticipate guest needs and resolve any concerns with confidence and care.
  • Respond promptly to calls, requests, and in-person inquiries with a calm, solution-first attitude.
  • Share local knowledge and genuine Asheville recommendations — you're an ambassador for this city.
Audit & Financial Accuracy
  • Perform the nightly audit: reconcile daily transactions across all hotel outlets (rooms, F&B, ancillary).
  • Balance and close out Point of Sale (POS) and Property Management System (PMS) for the day.
  • Verify room rates, adjustments, and postings for accuracy — catching discrepancies before morning.
  • Generate and distribute nightly reports to department leaders and management.
  • Ensure all credit card transactions, cash handling, and account settlements are accurate.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing of all daily financial records.
Hotel Operations & Safety
  • Monitor the property overnight — conducting regular lobby and common area walk-throughs.
  • Follow and enforce all security protocols to ensure the safety of guests and the team.
  • Coordinate with maintenance or on-call staff for any urgent overnight property issues.
  • Communicate shift handoff notes clearly to the morning team for a seamless transition.
  • Adhere to all emergency procedures and serve as first responder for overnight incidents.
What We're Looking ForRequired
  • 1+ year of front desk, guest services, or hotel operations experience.
  • Basic accounting or cash-handling proficiency — numbers don't intimidate you.
  • Proficiency with hotel Property Management Systems (Opera, Maestro, or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions overnight without direct supervision.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed — the overnight team depends on you showing up.
Preferred (But Not Dealbreakers)
  • Prior night audit experience in a boutique or independent hotel.
  • Experience with POS reconciliation or multi-outlet hospitality operations.
  • Passion for Asheville — its culture, music scene, food community, and arts.
  • Bilingual a plus.
Why The Radical?

Working the overnight shift at The Radical isn't just a job — it's a chance to own your space. You'll develop real hospitality chops, sharpen your financial acumen, and become an essential part of a team that's doing something different in Asheville.

  • Be part of a creative, locally rooted hotel that actually stands out in the market.
  • Work in one of the most celebrated cities in the South — Asheville's energy is one of a kind.
  • Join a culture that values personality, creativity, and service with intention.
  • Gain cross-functional exposure to F&B, operations, and revenue management.
  • Grow with a team that invests in people — opportunities to move into day-side or management roles.
  • Overnight shift differential pay.
Physical Requirements

Ability to remain standing or seated for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must be able to move throughout the property during overnight rounds.

  • 401(k)
  • Disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Health insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Room Discounts
  • Employee Food and Beverage Discounts
